This is some major hardware failure for sure, the battery has nothing to do with it for sure. It sounds like either the screen or the video card on the computer has failed, probably the screen itself. It is cost prohibitive to replace the screen or even to work on the video card. At this point you are going to want to look into replacing the laptop.
