Question about Radio Shack Indoor Micro Mosquito Rc Helicopter

1 Answer

How long does the battery on the mosquito last? It's not holding a charge stong enough to stay in the air. I'm using radio shack batteries, will energizers give me a stronger charge?

I am not endorsing one brand over another, but I have had better luck with the main brand name alkaline batteries. Just for fun, compare the weight of the Energizers to the R.S., you might be surprised.

Changed the battery in my 2-Way Radio CLS1110 and it will turn on but when you push talk it goes off

The battery is bad or not charged. Check your charger and charger/battery connection. Clean all contacts with a pencil eraser and try charging again. With a new battery it may take up to 3 charge cycles to fully charge your battery.

Best regards.

I think that your batteries may have expired due to old age and are refusing to hold a charge.

Ni cad batteries have a shelf life and once that time limit has expired, you need to replace the batteries with new ones which will begin counting down to their expire date and also go dead.
once ni cad batteries have expired and past their time limit
nothing can be done to revive them ,they are forevermore dead and must be replaced.

that is the reason why i buy 120 volt ac drills instead of battery powered drills which are always dead by the time i need to use them and wont hold a charge when i try to recharge them.

my cordless radio phone batteries go dead after 1 hour on the phone, when they were newer,i could talk for 4 hours and still have 1/4 charge left. soon they will only last 30 minutes and need a 12 hour recharge to come back to 4 bars.
so i expect to have to pay 4 new batteries by christmas.

One other option may be that your charger is not working properly and developing the required voltage.
that also happens but not as often as dead batteries that wont hold a charge.
if you have a radio shack nearby, even if its a 20 mile drive
they can test your batteries and also test your battery charger. just ask for a salesman that has a battery tester and a vom [volt, ohm, milli amp meter] also called a multi meter. The vom will test your charger and came also test your batteries, but most salesmen dont know enough about the vom to use it as a battery tester .

PS a battery tester is just a vom scaled down for battery testing only, made easy to use for dummies.

How do I test if the batteries are still working? I have not ride or switch on the scooter for at least 3 years.

Assuming you don't have a voltmeter and can't check to see if the batteries are producing 12.6 volts, remember that these batteries are around $36 each at Radio Shack and easy to replace if your hands are working. If it's really important, spend the $36.

If your hands don't, or you don't have a Radio Shack, a scooter replace shop locally charges $85 an hour, min one hour, to troubleshoot and diagnose the batteries, then will charge for the parts at around triple the Shack price. I'm sure there is a repair facility similar around your area.

To test the batteries without a voltmeter, charge the scooter overnight, get on in the morning, and starting at the slowest speed, go forward a little bit, slowly working your way up to the full speed. Stay around your charger, IOW don't go for a 3 mile ride, until you know if and how much of a charge the batteries are holding.

One last thought, in our scooter, new batteries only lasted 2 years and 2 weeks before losing their capacity. Our local "small town" Shack had the batteries in stock, so they seem to be a popular item.

Good luck!

Radio shack walkie talkie 21-1914 replaced batteries will not charge

Hi pearl,

A simple problem to solve at last!!!

Inside the battery compartment you should find a switch, which indicates Recharge/Normal, make sure you select recharge if your using these batteries, otherwise no charging occurs.

If this does not work, take out the recharchables and select normal on switch, place fully charged normal batteries into the compartment, making sure you put them in the right way around, close the flap and turn on the radio, if this works, then your battery switch is faulty, however, you can get lithium ion batteries, which will last longer than most other high duty batteries.

The cost of getting these radios is not worth the money, unless you are technically minded and buy the repacement switch and repair it yourself.

Otherwise try all of the above, and remember, when charging batteries that are rechargeable, never leave the radio on, as this can wear out your batteries quickly.

I hope this advice is helpful to you.

Best regards,
Peter

Batterys wont hold a charge

It's never a good idea to ship a scanner (or anything else) with the batteries installed, as you never know what the package might experience enroute. About all you can do is replace the rechargeables with fresh NiMH batteries. If they don't take or hold a good charge you need to contact the company that "fixed" the scanner.

Battery not staying charged on one of the two handsets

Replace the battery. They do go bad. Sometimes Radio Shack used to have replacements for some models of cordless phones.

To verify if battery is bad, swap between the phones and see if it follws the battery.

I have 3 of these handsets and none of them will hold a charge, two of them quit at the same time after a power outage. We can still use the base as a peaker phone and the answering machine still works...

the transformer (little box that plugs into wall) probably got hit with a power surge and are not giving the charger base enough power to charge the batteries or the batteries are old enough that they cant hold a charge. I am betting on the transformers though. you can test out one by going to a electronics parts store (like radio shack) and getting a replacement transformer take one of you old ones with you (it should be under $10) and if it charges your phone you know what the problem is if not try a battery you can buy them online for about $9.
hope that helps

Mine won't hold a charge either. I've had it for about a year and used it about 6 times. I have the manual and it is no help. I guess the battery is bad after a year. What a bummer. Don't purchase this product.
