Question about SanDisk Sansa E280 MP3 Player

1 Answer

When I start my e280, it is saying "Not enough space for music DB please free up 90 mb". It then shuts off. When I plug it into my PC (Windows 7), anytime I try to acess the files, it feezes up my explorer program. I obviously have a corrupt file, but can't figure out how to get to it to delete it. I've tried taking the battery out to reset it, but no luck yet.

Actually, I found this solution on the sandisk forums and it worked. Scan down a ways to the neutron-bob entry from 10-19-2008 01:49 PM

Getting a message that says "Not enough space for Music DB. Please free up 90 MB"

Plug the USB cable into your Fuze, but don't connect the other end to your PC yet.

Switch the HOLD switch on (Power button slider down). Press and hold the |<< button while at the same time plugging the USB cable.

You should see your Fuze show up in Windows Explorer (run "My Computer" and you should see it there). Right-click on your Fuze and select Format. Note that this will erase all media on your Fuze, you should have a backup of your media on your PC.

Once the Windows Format is done, go to the Settings menu, then System Settings, then select Format. Select Yes to start formatting.

It keeps saying not enough space for music DB please free 90 MB when i turn it on

Remove the microSD card, then connect the Sansa to your computer. Delete one or more files (music, photos, videos) until you free up the required amount of memory.

Sandisk e280 8gb mp3 player: Not enough space for music freeze.

Try buying a 1gb MicroSD card and plugging it into the MicroSD slot on the player. That would give you an additional 1000mb of free space and might stop the "not enough space" error from shuting it down.

" Not enough space for music DB. Please free 8 MB." Huh??

wire it up to a windows pc, treat it like a harddisk, search through the folders for the mp3's you won't to get rid off, delete the files you want from it, like you would from a computer.then copy some mp3's
to it, unplug, finished.
formatting it might erase some of the software the player needs to run, so you better don't. enjoy your favorite music :-)

Error message: Not enough space for music DB. Please free 4MB.

Hi I have just bought a Sandisk Sansa M250, we loaded som music on it and it lasted 2 hours, then it the message came "Not enough space for music DB please free 8 MB". I couldnt even go in to the menu. I contakted Sandisk.com and 24 hours after they came up with an answer. If it's currently frozen, hold down the power button for 20 seconds in order to soft reset it. Let's try to format the player (THIS WILL ERASE ALL FILES FROM THE PLAYER). Plug it into your computer, then open My Computer, right-click the drive associated with the player, and choose Format. It may give you a choice of file system, if so, choose FAT (it may only let you choose FAT32, which is fine). Now click on Start and it should format the player. If not already done, please also update the firmware from this link: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1368 The 20 seconds on the power button didnt work, but the formation did. Hope this helps. //Cadmann Please bear with my english
