1 Answer

My GE JBP84SKSS range will not heat up, the elements light up but do not heat, either does the oven. All control panel lights do work.

when you turn on the burners, you see the orange glow of the coil but there is no heat. The house breaker has been reset and still no heat.

Can you clarify something, what do you mean "the elements light up but do not heat" what's light up

Also did you try something else, with control, electric power.

Your problem is that there is a lost contact of a power cable going in one of the heating elements or on the infinite switches going to elements.

So you need to disassemble the range top glass assembly and have a visual and closer look of all power cables. Probably the problem area will be burned black or rusty one.

Take care and switch off the main power from the range for extra safety.

There is also abet chance that after you connect back the lost contact to discover that you have a fault on the control panel since this happen by 85% but sometimes you can be lucky and everything will work normal again.

Here we have a link with parts layout diagram which will a great help for you.

Range lights on a over the range GE mirco wave won't work. The touch pad works and says the lights are on but no lights

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid with a one year guarantee.

Or you can buy and install a new control circuit board (smart board) from the Pros here, our favorite supplier.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan, cooling fan, turntable, and/or inside light operation, too.

Details of our service are at our Web site, along with a video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me directly with your brand, full model number and symptoms.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

GE model J KP85B0A3BB over range will not heat up. Both control panels for microwave and range work, interior light comes on when door opens, and glass plate will turn...

The most likely problem is the magnetron, it works with the high voltage capacitor and diode which can be a factor. The three work together to generate the high voltage that heats the food. If the repairs are done by a professional the cost will be high when you consider parts and labor.
