1) Video card drivers are out of date. Please visit this link http://www.valusoftsupport.com/KBArticle.asp?kbid=451 to determine your video card driver's date. Drivers that are over 6 months old are considered old.
2) Your video card does not support the minimum system requirements listed on the box. Many built in/integrated video card do not support Hardware T&L/Pixel Shaders. Please consult with your computer manufacturer to find out if you system supports Hardware T&L/Pixel Shaders.
You need a newer graphics card that can handle the requirements of this game. NVIDIA is what I go with. Depending on what you get, will depend on the price, but it is a good investment if you plan on doing a lot of gaming and such. Let me know if you have any further questions and I would be glad to help.
PIxel shader unavailable would point to your video adapter being too old for this game. You would need to buy a newer videocard if your pc has a free slot.
Heres a quote from another person with the same problem
"We initially had trouble getting this game to work as it required a
video card with a "pixel shader", which was not supported by our
onboard video adapter on a brand new PC. After installing an
inexpensive Nvidia 8400GS video card, the game works perfectly. Any
basic gaming video card should work for this game. It was a bit
surprising that a game for 8 year olds required a more advanced video
card, but now that we are past that hurdle, my daughter has really
enjoyed the game. She has said that Pet Vet 2 is better than Pet Vet 1
on Nintendo DS or Pet Vet 1 for PC. I find this game fairly
entertaining to play with my daughter and aside from the having fun, it
does have some good aspects around planning and budgeting to grow your
vet practice."
I will need to know your computer brand, and model to find out what kind of a card your pc supports.
