To activate the Lan (Ethernet), you have to install the BRAdmin Professional Utility. I hope you've installed the drivers and other utilities. If so continue with the below instructions, otherwise, install the printer drivers before you proceed the steps below:
Connect the printer to the computer and plug in the Ethernet cable, now pop in the CD (driver cd) on the Cd/Dvd drive, wait for few seconds, you'll see the autoplay menu on the screen with several options, now click "Install Optional Applications", on the next page you'll see more options, click "BRAdmin Professional" and install it, simply follow the onscreen instructions, after it's completed, run the utility and setup the Network referring to the instructions here (click here), this tutorial includes pictures and graphics illustrated properly. I can't type down all the instructions here as we have word limits. But I hope that you'll be able to follow the instructions in the tutorial. You can read the instructions via your internet browser or you can download it.

If you have problem, if you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Well, this is another case, I assumed that it was installation issue as you did mention only about "Activation". If there's no light, then it's not working, might be it's already or some components' been damaged... To test the lan and to make sure about it's faulty.. you can use a Lan Tester lik this (Click here - Lan Tester). [to test the connection and the lan card, power on the printer, plug in the ethernet cable and plug in the other end to the lan tester (Mains, i.e bigger unit) and power on the Lan Tester, the leds will blink accordingly if there's no problem with the lan card.]

If it doesn't seem working, you'll need to replace the Lan port.

You can read/download the manuals here (click here) and here's another (click here).

Replacing the port isn't that easy, so I would suggest you to call a local printer tech for help.

If you need further help, let me know.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for using FixYa.

How to activate the wireless LAN connection?

You need to go into the wireless router and do what they call Clone Mac address. In other words you need to take the mac address that is in your computer that you say they use, and put it into your wireless router. This makes them think that the wireless router is your computer. Then everybody can connect.

On your computer that is currently working, click Start/Programs/ and look for the RUN or CMD prompt and open it. If you fin the Run Command just type cmd and click ok to open the CMD prompt. In the Command Prompt type: ipconfig /all and press Enter
This will show you the MAC Address of the current wired Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection for the computer. it will be a series of 2 digit numbers/letters with dashes between them such as A1-99-B7-24-XG and it is called the Physical Address (which is the mac address). Write down that mac address so you can remember it.

When you take that ethernet port out of the computer and put it into the router's LAN or WAN port (not ports 1,2,3,4) then you will take another ethernet cable and plug it into the back of the computer that had the ethernet cable, and the other end can go into one of the 4 ports.

Now log into the router from the computer by typing the router's ip address (normally something like 192.168.1.1) then put in the default userid and password and go set up (configure the router) . Under the basic settings look for something called Clone Mac address and you can click it and it should put in the address you wrote down on paper. Then go to the wireless tab or wireless settings and setup the wireless by giving it a SSID to identify your network and a password if you want it secured.

If you internet service provider is a Phone company such as AT&T then you will want the router configured PPOE under the basic settings and you will have to give it the Internet Userid and Password (this is not your email user id and password). You might have to call the phone company to get it. If your internet service Provider is a Cable Company then they use DHCP and you don't have to supply a userid or password.

Hopefully you have a manual or cd with the router. Manuals are very helpful and some manufacturers have the cd do the configuration for you.

Hookupplaystation3tointernet

Hello Cabage344,

Easiest way is to connect the pS3 to your wireless network.
If you don't have a wireless network, connect a ethernet cable from your PS3 LAN port (on the back of the PS3) to one of the numbered LAN ports on your router.

Thanks,

Pat

Getting low or no connectivity error when trying to connect laptop and other devices to 5-port DLINK switch. Lan line going to switch is confirmed working as i'm able to plug the laptop and other devices...

please change the cable which is connecting your laptop to D-Link DES 1005 Ethernet Switch.

This error appears when you have either a bad cable or bad switch or NIC card on Laptop.
As you have Laptop and other devices and getting the same error , so i suspect issue with the cable.

Please use a new Straight LAN cable.

Linux 5 is not detecting my broadband modem

The connecting to internet is very easy in linux .

There are many steps but i am saying simple one

Initially configure the adsl router with ppoe over ethernet and enable dhcp address option.

Next plug the ethernet cable from router to the inteface of lan card.

Boot the redhat machine.

In the system-->Administration-->network options check whether lan card is detected and active .

If the lan card is not active activate and save

In lan card select option assign assig ip automatically

check whether ip is assigned by using command ifconfig .

I have a dwl-2000ap, the problem on the lan port does not function, led indicator lan does not work. I have input cable type Straight-Through or crossover, but it still does not function whether dwl-2000ap...

It should work with either cable. The LED will only come on when a connection is made to the computer or router. Is the LAN adaptor working correctly at the other end.

Need help configuring LAN and WI-FI settings...

the first thing you have to check is if your computer is getting a valid IP address from your router. if your using a windows xp laptop just go to your network connections under control panel then right click the connection you want to check and got to status, click the support tab and it will show you the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway(for windows vista just go to details and look for the IPV4 info)

if your laptop has built in wireless you can just turn it off(theres a switch of a button to turn if on/off) so that your laptop will only be using the ethernet connection. there is not option to automatically switch from one connection to another.
