Make sure that there is nothing stuck in the cartridge compartment, sometimes a little piece of dirt could give you a problem. Use small mirror if needed to look inside.

SOURCE: dell 922 printer alignment problem after refilling cartridge

Sounds like the cartridge ink jets have dried up. Try running a cleaning on them to see if you can unclog them. If this fails to work try gently rubbing the ink jets with a Qtip and alcohol. If this doesn't work for you then you will need to purchase new cartridges.

try that for about 10 seconds per the manual at ("http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/924/en/om_en/om_en.pdf" if you don't have it)

My lexmark x 5650 keeps saying alignment error, try to remove tape. I've done this multiple times, tried cleaning the cartridge, and it keeps saying alignment problem. ive unplugged and plugged back in...

alignment error usually means that one cartridge is not printing, or paper tray is empty.
try removing both cartridges then stamp each printhead on some folded tissue paper. You should get one solid strip of black ink with the black cart and 3 colour strips with the colour cart.
If you don't...there is your problem.

good luck

My lexmark z1420 cant print the alignment page, it keeps saying that the protective tape may still be on the cartridges, but it isn't, I've tried putting different cartridges in (the old ones) and it is...

The cartridges may not be seated properly in the carrier or just needs cleaning. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Close the cover of the printer. Unplug the printer from the power source and leave it unplug for now. Here's a link to the Lexmark website to guide you on how to manually clean the nozzles of the cartridges. http://bit.ly/9ZpYd1 . On the page, there are also other instructions on how to maintain the cartridges using the Lexmark software but that's applicable once you have resolved the alignment problem. Plug the printer back to the power source. Once printer's ready, re-insert the cartridges.

I have lexmark x6170 and error message says remove tape on ink cartridges and there is no tape.says align error

Hi. The cartridges may not be seated properly or just needs cleaning. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Close the cover. Grab a damp paper towel and place it on the table. Set the cartridge on it with the nozzles facing down. Draw about 2-3 lines in one direction to wipe clean the nozzles. Do the same to the other cartridge. Unplug the printer from the power source for about 10-15 seconds before you plug it back in. When the printer's ready, reload the cartridges. Let it print the alignment page. Hope this fixes the problem.

Align Print Cartridges

A simple question first - have you removed the protective tape from the bottom of the cartridges? What kind of printer is it? I suggest you unplug the printer for a few minutes and then try again. Are they the manufacturer's cartridges or a lower cost brand? If they are the latter, it's possible they won't work with your printer.
