Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a Linksys wrt54g router. I've had at least a dozen different laptops, desktops and even a Wii connect to this router, it works fine. I bought an Epson Workforce 615 printer with Wi-Fi. The printer sees the router and SSID, correctly identifies the security in use (tried WPA-PSA, TKIP and AES), but won't connect. No errors or anything, it just never gets any DHCP info like IP address or gateway. I've looked online and found others that have had this same issue but none with an answer.

This issue could be a firmware issue. May need an updatee
1.Log into router. Using either 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 in a browser window that is ( internet Explorer or Firefox)
2. Verify wireless router name( on the computer) >>> ( on/off) ( router status window)
3.Note router name you are connecting to.
4.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP addresses.
5. Set the laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address. This set up in the "security tab" in the router. using 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 to access through a browser.
6.Note router name you are connecting to.
7. Move the laptop about 20ft away and try to log on to the internet.
This is for all routers to set up wirelessly.
8. check for firmware update at the manufacturers site for your model router
9. cell phones, cordless phones, digital TV's, can affect the data signal from a router. Also distance from the router can be a factor. If your router is in a basement place the router to a upper floor and center it in the roo

I have a linksys wireless g router that worked fine until yesterday. Now it won't connect to the internet. I have a desktop wired to the router and a laptop used wireless.

Check if you can connect to the internet when hooked directly to the modem. If your connection works fine through the modem, then your router needs to be reconfigured.

Router not seeing internet connection

If you are on cable internet, you need to perform MAC Address Cloning. Access the router's setup page using your main PC, under SETUP tab, there's a sub-tab called MAC Address Clone. Enable that and click on "Clone My PC's MAC" then click on Save Settings. Power cycle the router and the modem. You should be online after that.

PC works fine with Linksys USB card, but laptop's NetGear won't.

It looks like you are either using TKIP or AES just put the wireless to use MIXED and it will solve your problem.

Linksys router problem

Try a factory reset on the router, in most cases this can be done by holding the reset button on the unit down for 10 or more seconds. Once this is done you may have to enter any settings into the router again.

Also, try download the latest firmware from http://www.linksys.com and upgrade the firmware on the router.

Connect xbox360 and linksys wrt54g

There are several possible reasons why XBOX doesn't connec to the Internet through the router:
  • Check physical connections between XBOX and router.
  • Try different Ethernet ports on the router and use known working Ethernet cable.
  • You may also connect your XBOX directly to your modem and check if it will connect to the Internet.
  • Check the IP address that your XBOX is getting when connected to the router.
  • Take note of the error message you get from XBOX for us to know the real problem.
Hope this helps!
