Hooked modem up to AT&T DSL. DSL light on modem is lit, as are the other appropriate connection indicator lights, except the internet indicator. We have unplugged, rebooted, everything we can think of. AT&T says that there is a signal coming through.

1. have you check the status of the router that is gone into the router to see if you have an IP assigned
2. have you check each Ethernet cable with a known good one
3. have you check the network card to see if it is working properly that is by going to the DOS prompt and do an ipconfig /release then renew

Troubleshooting DSL Modems

Ever look at your DSL Modem and wonder what all those lights mean? Why do some flash, while others remain solid? What if your lights are different colors? How do you tell if your DSL Modem is working correctly?<br /> <br /> Each light on your DSL Modem represents a function. The light is an indication of whether that function is working properly. Sometimes the placement and title of each function can vary by modem manufacturer, but they are pretty standard in interpetation. If you look closely your modem, you might find that each function is labeled in small print to help identify them.<br /> <br /> A standard DSL Modem has a light for power, internet, ethernet, link and wireless connection. A healthy DSL Modem will have a steady green light that does not blink or flutter for all features other than internet, ethernet and wireless. A flashing or fluttering light indicates movement and useage. When you are connected to your DSL Modem wireless, the light for this feature will blink indicating a connection and/or active useage. If the internet connection is working properly the color of the light will be green. If the connection is working but experincing a problem the light can turn to yellow or orange. If the connection fails, the light on the DSL Modem can be red or absent depending on the problem causing the trouble. If your service is turned off by the provider, more than likely the light will be "off".<br /> <br /> If your lights turn a different color, are absent or your internet connection fails try power cycling your modem before reporting the trouble to your provider. Power cycling helps the DSL Modem to reset its connection and repair your internet services.<br /> <br /> If you are using a DSL Modem alone to connect to the internet (no additional router) you can power cycle it by first turning off your computer and then unplug the modem itself from the power source at the wall. Wait for 1 to 2 minutes and then plug it back into the power source and wait for the warm up to finish before rebooting the pc.<br /> <br /> The DSL Modem should go through the normal warm up procedures of blinking lights, making them all stable and solid green ect. You will know when its finished warming up when the features are set at solid green (other than eithernet, internet and wireless connection as explained above). When the modem finished the warm up, reboot your computer and check your internet connection.<br /> <br /> Power cycling your DSL Modem can help keep your connection healthy and running at optimal speeds.<br />

There will be 4 lights...

Power

Ethernet

Power light indicates power supply is good...
Ethernet light indicates connection between modem and computer is good...
DSL light indicates connection between modem and telphone line is good... Also DSL light should be steady and it should not flash...
If it flashes then it says there is a lot of noise in telephone line...
Internet light says whether the internet status is connected or not...Internet light can flash depending upon the internet activity...

I am installing with my Sony VPCZ1 PC but cannot get past the first task which says my wireless adapter is still turned on when in fact it is turned off? I am running Windows7. Can you please help?

First;I think you need to use W7 to configure your connection with the router.
But try :
Use the PING command to test the communication between the computer and the gateway.

Goto Start > Run and enter COMMAND.
From the Command Prompt, enter PING 192.168.0.1.
The gateway should reply.

Verify that the residential gateway is getting power. With the broadband modem connected to the WAN port on the gateway, you should have a soild WAN link light. You should use the same cable that connected the modem to the PC to connect the modem to the WAN port on the gateway. Any port on the gateway that has a computer connected to it should have the corresponding LAN link light lit. If you do not get the appropriate link lights, try using different cables.

Minimum System Requirements• Cable or DSL Modem
• Computer with:
• Windows® Vista*, Windows® XP SP2*, or Windows® 2000 SP4*, or Mac OS® X (v10.4)**
• Internet Explorer v6 or Mozilla Firefox v1.5
• CD-ROM Drive

• For Internet Access:
• Cable or DSL Modem
• Subscription with an Internet Service Provider (ISP)

How many lights should be on my westell model327w?

b2f0922.jpg
The Westell has several lights on the front that have various meanings

Power = When lit, this light indicates there's power to the router. It should be solid green.

Ethernet = When lit, this light indicates that the modem is communicating with your computer. This will be on only if you're using the Ethernet cable to connect the modem to your computer

Wireless = When lit, this light indicates that the wireless function of the Actiontec is working. This will only be lit if you're using the wireless function.

DSL = When lit, this light indicates the modem is speaking to the central office (phone company). When working, the light should be solid green.

Internet = When blinking, this light indicates that you're receiving information i.e., you're able to browse from site to site. This light will be blinking as you're receiving information.

My Motorola Modem Mstatea

When the DSL light turns red it indicates that the modem has no internet signal.
So please check if the cables are connected properly
Also ensure that there is a proper signal to your premises without any interference
This is called intermittent connection
If the DSL light turns red it indicates that there is a problem with the cables connected or the DSL line
Please check your DSL connection with ISP

There is on another reason that the modem might have gone bad.
If all the above steps are executed and if this issue still persists replace the modem

Ethernet light flashing

Check your DSL Filters on your house phones or anything connected to the phone line EXCEPT the modem. The modem should not have a filter on it. If this doesnt help I would recommend getting your ISP out to test the line because sometimes the resisitors or hardware in the box goes bad or at the DSLAM.

I have a Qwest Actiontec modem that has worked fine until today. Now the DSL light is blinking and the Internet light does not come on. I have rebooted, but no fix. thanks!

If the DSL light is blinking it means that there is no DSL carrier signal to your modem. Check the phone line and make sure you have no open lines and filters are on all the devices hooked up to your phone system except your modem. You can check for an open line by hooking up a phone to the phone line going into your modem and listen for a dial tone.

Constantly blinking Activity light

Well, you are very correct with the activity light blinking and the increased blinking except the fact that modem will encounter a problem in future...
The 5 different lights on your modem namely Power, Ethernet, DSL, Internet and Activity have their own indications and explanations.
1. The Activity Light indicates the amount of activity that is takin place on the computer on the Internet though the activity might blink even when you are not browsing. This can be explained by stating that the computer constantly keep sending signals  about it being connected to the internet and any other acknowledgements..

So, you've got nothing worry about unless the Power or the Ethernet or the DSL or the Internet light Blinks....
Cause they are the resultants of a fried modem(check for the adapter), faulty LAN connections, interrupted Dsl line and the account verification failure indications respectively.....
