Have HP 4215...recently installed replacement black & color NuKote cartridges...color will print; however, black cartridge will not...cleaned cartridge contacts via utilities & according to printed manual (distilled water with lint-free cloth)...still will not print black ink...thank you.

many printer manufacturers put something (a chip?) in the circuit of the cartridge to prevent refilled ones from being recognized by the printer....when the "factory" cartridge is empty, the only way for the printer to see a full cartridge again is by using a "new" factory one, ...i guess it's the big name brands way of making sure you buy "their" ink and not use refulls.
take the cartraige out and put a piece of tape on the ink pads where the ink comes out. then peel it off and pop it in. It should recignize the cartrige as full. If not then don't sweat it. You do have ink in the carrtridge and it will work. You will just have to watch for it running low. You can tel by the quality of thr print when you are running low.
