Question about Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse USB Receiver 1010104281

I have a Microsoft Wireless Desktop Receiver 3.1. The mouse light(A) is off and does not give signal to the optical mouse. Two other lights (1) and (F) are on. The wireless keyboard is receiving singal and is thus working well. Please advise.

The "A" represents caps lock, while "1" represents num lock and "F" represents function lock. You should try changing your mouse's batteries.

When you replace the Battery on a Wireless Mouse you have to link the Mouse again with your USB receiver. There should be a Button on the bottom of the Mouse that could be marked, Reset, or Link or something similar. Just turn on your Mouse and hold this Button for a few second until the USB receiver finds the signal.

I have a Microsoft Wireless Desktop Receiver 3.1 unit which works both my keyboard and Wireless Laser Mouse 5000. My mouse is not working and I've changed the batteries 3 times. Can I buy a replacement...


I have the same system. Mouse can be ordered, but not easily. Make sure mouse is not working.... i almost made tour same mistake. In my case, the mouse plug (from computer to wireless receiver) had become unhooked. All i could see is that mouse was communicating with wireless receiver but appeared to be frozen. If you can reset receiving channel, and see that receiver acknowledges presence of mouse, you may have my same problem. Also, if you can see that the laser light is working, mouse is probably ok, and batteries are good.

My Kensington wireless keyboard (Ci70) just stopped working. I have no idea why. The mouse works just fine. XP Pro SP 3. Have rebooted. Unplugged the USB interface device. Plugged back in. Rebooted....


Replace batteries in keyboard and re-sync the devices

maybe the battery?
follow the steps below to troubleshoot the mouse
Wireless mouse does not respond (generic instructions)

Try to Resynchronize your device with the receiver(connector)
Follow these steps.:
Note When you synchronize the mouse or the keyboard with the receiver, put the device near the receiver and put other wireless keyboards and mouse at least 6 feet away.
1. Press the button on the receiver, and then verify that the light on the receiver starts to blink.
2. If a dialog box appears on the screen in several seconds, follow the instructions that appear on the screen. Otherwise, go to the next step.
2. Press and release the Connect Channel button on the bottom of the mouse or the keyboard.
3. Check the green light on the receiver. A steady green light means the synchronization was successful. If the problem persists, try steps 1 through 3 again.
For the Wireless Notebook mouse: This issue can occur if the micro-switch on the bottom of the mouse is not released. Use a pin or a pen to try to release the button if it is depressed.

Microsoft wireless desktop receiver 3.1. All 3 light stay on!?!?


using a manual keyboard and mouse, make sure the driver is installed. then, remove and reinsert the wireless receiver, and wait for windows to find it. Next, on the wifi devices, scan for signal. If that fails, reboot and try again. Sadly, this is typical of any blue tooth kb and mouse set. it either works very well, or not at all. Thats why i put my money into standard wired equipment.

I do not know if you got your answer yet, but the 3 lights on the reciever unit indicate the following:

light on the left (under the "A" indicates that your caps lock is on
light in the middle (under the "1" indicates that your numbers lock is on
light on the right (under the semi-circle with verticle hash mark) indicates the power is on

Can't install Microsoft Wireless Desktop


you need to resync the mouse and keyboard to the wireless receiver. you hold the button down on the receiver until you see a flashing light and then you press the button on the bottom of the key board. then you do the same thing for the mouse.
