Altec Lansing Bx21 9volt sub

I was playing music through my speakers when the 9v supply became unplugged from the sub woofer. I plugged it back in and now I get no sound and the little power light doesn't come on the right speaker when energized.

I checked the power supply and it appears to be putting out 9volts. Is it possible to blow the speaker by plugging in and out the power supply?

I also opened the sub and looked for a fuse of some sort to no avail.

I do not have power supply cord for Altec Lansing computer speaker system with sub woofer for model AVS300. it has a plug port of DC 18V 650 mA. Can I use a AC current power supply?

Hi Dan Bushey, I'm glad you found a solution, what does not close me is that Altec Lansing, which needs a DC 18volts and 650mA power supply, works with a source that delivers 9 volts and 19KW (???)
Maybe it will be 19 volts and 1.9 Amp?
Comment please

Altec lansing ATP4 speakers aren't working

is it possible that you may have plugged the speakers into the microphone or audio input jack on the computer instead of the speaker/headphone/audio output jack?

The transformer of my sub-woofer is burnt. When i take it to the repair shop, they say that the transformer is not available. I badly need to fix the speaker as i love them very much and the new ones are...

Sub woofers have small amplifiers , not transformers. The amplifier is removable and replaceable. The The overall size and the output wattage are the spec's you need . The output wattage is on the label which is attached somewhere on the speaker. You do NOT need to replace the amp with the Altec Lansing brand. Have you contacted Altec Lansing to purchase a replacement Amp? That's where I would start. If they cannot help you I would Google replacement amp sub-woofer, Altec Lansing model MX5021.
good luck

I have the same problem I tested the power volume controller with in my friend sub-woofer and same issue, is not the sub-woofer neither the speaker, is the power volume controller definitively.

My altec lansing mx5021 speakers problem

The problem I have found is the contact glue between the back panel and circuit board inside the sub woofer. The glue becomes conductive after some time (2 years..!!) and needs to be scraped away from across tracks, you can tell the problem areas as the glue is pale yellow but goes brown and conductive over time. Good luck.

VS2521

I found that one of the pins of the plug connecting the sub-woofer was bent and the plug was not seating properly deep in to the slot. Every pin has a specific task to the sound system, it seems. I set right the bent pin with a long needle gently and re- plugged in to the woofer's slot. After that every thing works amazingly. All it requires is patience and application of mind for a while exclusively focused on the problem.
Thanks and regards

No sound

check the plug that goes directly to the altec box. or it could be the wire is the culprit..
