Question about ViewSonic VP191b 19" LCD Monitor

2 Answers

I start the computer each morning and the monitor generaly works all day and late in the day the monitor will just go black. I will manually turn it back on and it will go out in a few seconds. I will then shut down and restart and will work well. the problem happens daily and at times more than once per day.

I repaced the power cord. It did not appear to be loose, however I will not know for a day or two and will keep in touch. I do pray the replacement of the cord is the fix.

    Thanks Robert

what your saying is that it is the monitor itself and not the computer or something that needs to reset

Thank you for such prompt help and I will replace the monitor
and send to old one to the recycler.
It is 4 years old and expect I have my monies worth from it.
I will mention this to some of my friends and will use your service then next time I get stuck on something which most likely wont be to long.
    Thanks again
    Robert

Hello

This is not a power cord problem. This is a problem on the powersupply board of the lcd. There are a number of electrolyte capacitors that are most likely going bad and would need to be replaced.

Safest bet would be to replace all normal sized electrolyte capacitors on the power board of the display to get it to function like new again.

If you don't own a soldering iron, any local vcr/tv or such repairer should be able to fix the problem.

    Hi,

No, most likely the problem is a faulty power board in the display, components called electrolyte capacitors wear out and this starts happening. It will become more frequent slowly, and at some point you will not be able to use the screen at all since it just turns off.

If you try another monitor with the computer, the problem will go away. And it comes back when you take this monitor back to use, due to the faulty components on the power board inside - that converts the power from the wall into power that the display can use.

If your monitor is outside of warranty, which it probably is.

A TV - VCR repairer will be able to replace the faulty capacitors on the power board. You may also take the display to a local LCD repairer if one exists.

The parts that are faulty generally cost around a dollar or two.

Hi! Please do check the power cable for it may be a little loose. I strongly suggest that you try a different cable and see how it goes. Please write back on the progress. Thank you.

We leave our computer turned on at night but we turn off the monitor. The last two weeks when we have turned on our monitor in the morning it will show the desktop but when we move the mouse the monitor...

Yes. Do not turn the monitor off by its power switch, let the computer do the work for you. Alot of times when people use the power switch to turn off the monitor, the computer sees that all of a sudden the monitor has been disconnected from the pc. when that happens the pc sees it as a device beimg unplugged and removes that certain device from the pc's list of things that should be connected, and when you turn it back on the pc sees it again and starts loading drivers for that new part(monitor)

My acer AL2416w monitor turns on to a black screen

I have 2 Acer AL2416W monitors that i have been using for 2 years. There has been a handful of times i would turn my computer on in the morning and the screen would be black and Acer would lightly flash on the monitor 1 time. Typically a restart would take care of the problem. Last week the monitor blacked out and i can't get it to work. Any suggestions?? I switched ports on the computer to verify it wasn't the video card and tried new DVI cables to verify it wasn't those? Is this fixable??

Have you noticed if the monitor gets hot before it turns off?

Please, don't open a monitor and try to repair it yourself. It can be very dangerous and it's not worth getting injured.
