Go for system restore if you are using XP/VISTA.
Download and save your driver in CD/DVD.

How can i recover windows 7 with out disk

A Windows password reset disk is always used to reset Windows password if you have created in advance.

If you have already have one, so just do as below:
Here are the steps to use the disk for your password recovery.

Step 1: If you enter the wrong password when you attempt to log on, Windows will display a message that the password is incorrect. Click "OK" to close the message box.
Step 2: Click "Reset Windows Password", and then insert Windows password reset disk (or other removable media).
Step 3: Follow the steps in the "Password Reset Wizard" to create a new password.
Step 4: Log on with the new password.

If you do not have a reset disk, you can use Windows Password Reset ( http://www.windowspasswordreset.net ) to create one.

But no matter which method you choose, you have to boot your locked computer from the password recovery disk. However, you will feel frustrated when you have little computer skill. Take these 2 methods as your reference when you encounter the similar problem.
Of course, firstly , you need to create a Windows 7 password reset disk, and then pay attention on how to boot from the Windows password reset disk .
Method OneInsert a burned Windows 7 password recovery CD in your locked computer boot the locked computer from the CD/DVD as follows:

1. Turn on or restart the locked computer, watch the screen for a message like "Press to http://www.passwordunlocker.enter SETUP "or something similar. Every time I try to turn on the computer it seats there until a message "A Recovery Disc or recovery partition cannot be found" I put the recovery DVD in the drive still get the same message.

go to bios settings by pressing the F2 on start ..and engage the optimal factory defaults feature...confirm with enter Y=yes..and than F10 to save changes.. If the computer still asks for recovery than the operation system is damaged and your recovery disk is either not boot-able or it is just for drivers and do not have a operation system in it..to install ..so ..you will need a boot-able disk with the installer of the windows first and than use the recovery disk to install the software and drivers needed for devices..

How do i restore my hp hdx18 to factory install settings? completely wipe it

Turn the computer off.
Turn the computer on, and look for a message like "press BLAH to enter System Recovery".
When you see the message, press the BLAH key.
This will start a complete "restore-to-factory" install of Windows.

Or, if you have a set of "System Recovery" CD/DVD disks from HP, then insert the 1st disk,
restart your computer, and select to boot your computer from the CD/DVD drive.

Or, there may be software already on your computer that lets you "burn" a set of "System Recovery" CD/DVD disks -- have 10 CD-R disks, and 5 DVD-R disks -- you may need to use most of these "blank" disks.

ACER RECOVERY DVD'S

Well, it would be easier (and cheaper) to download the drivers from Acer's website.
Go to:
http://www.acerpanam.com/flex/acer/bin/acer.html#app=2766&1adb-selectedIndex=0&e590-selectedIndex=1&9875-selectedIndex=1&796e-selectedIndex=1&ae20-selectedIndex=1

and select your exact model. You will find all the drivers there.

As for windows, what version is it upgradable from and to what?

Recovery Problem

 1. Check you are really using the right CDs
 2. Using another computer with a CD Writer and a blank CD, download this file:
toshdmi10.exe

Run the program, it will explain how to make a boot CD which you will use to start your computer and fix the problem that makes it say Wrong Machine.
Once this is done you can use the recovery cd's again.
