My coolpix s4000's flash isn't working. It works every now and then but is not consistant. The auto flash is on. What should I do? I've only had the camera for 2 months.

The "auto flash" setting lets the camera decide when it may need the flash for a picture, but it is not 100%. You can go to your flash menu and set it for "forced flash" or "always" and it will work every time, provided that you give it enough time to charge. When the flash icon is blinking, the flash is still charging and it will not fire.

My flash is not working. the icon keeps flashing for a long time before taking the picture before it takes a picture. I've reset the settings and tried all the different modes and cannot get ii to...

I found this somewhere else and I was surprised that it worked. Reset to default settings. Press menu, arrow right to the tool menu. Arrow down to Reset All, arrow right to yes.
I had tried different batteries, even alkaline to get it to work thinking that my batteries were old and weren't charging the flash. I saw that someone had done the reset all to fix it. I did it and tried to take a picture, the icon flash twice and then the flash charged up and took the picture. I replaced the batteries to lithium and now it charges up right away. I hope that helps.

Flash doesnt work, flash icon keeps flashing, E:91:01 flashing

Hi

Try to reset your camera, heres one way of doing it

1. Turn OFF cam & Remove the battery or the power supply
2. Turn the switch to CAMERA for about 30 sec then & Turn the switch to OFF
3. Install the battery or power supply. & Turn the switch to MEMORY
4. Open the LCD cover and press the RESET button ( small inner button )
5. You will be prompt to adjust date/time.
6. Take some pictures and test out your flash

or open up the setup menu, and look for intilize or reset to factory defaults.

That should solve it, if it doesn't then its a hardware issue possibly the flash is bad some parts may need to be replaced to fix it. Take it to a local repairer or your dealer if your in warranty.

www.advancecamera.com will offer a free repair estimate if your outside of warranty.

My flash is not working

go to the menu and go to the settings/options and there should be a setting for plash or a button that has and arrow/lighting bolt figure and that should work.

I had the same problem, called Samsung and they sent me a shipping label via email. I sent to their repair 12/15/08 and got the fixed camera today, 12/18/08. Very quick service - they replaced the lens. Camera now flashes.

Flash icon

Same problem with the red flash icon. I can take a picture if I turn off the flash as well, but have to turn off the flash every time I open the lens. Have had the camera for 5 years and haven't had a problem. We needed to replace the lens cover recently and after we replaced the cover we started having this flash problem. It was working fine before the cover came off which leads me to believe we've changed our settings somehow....pleas

Mavica FD95 Flash Quit Working???

My flash went out twice on my FD-95. The first time it was fixed under warranty and it was the bulb. This time I haven't fixed since I have my 707 now. It still works with the external flash like yours did before you dropped it. If possible I would try and buy another external flash since your time is short. When I had my camera fixed under warranty it was just about to run out and they, the camera shop, told me I should get it fixed now instead of out of warranty because the cost could be hundreds just in labor alone. Good luck.
