SOURCE: broken pull starter rope

remove pulley that rope goes on, wind it with new rope, wrap it till it is full, then feed rope thru hole in housing, put pulley back in place, put rope thru pull handle, pull thru till you feel spring catch tie a knot and that should do it......be careful when removing pulley not to dislodge recoil spring

Pull string broke how do I replace it

Don, Instead of me writing a book to ya on how to do this. A much much easier way to do this is to go on you tube.com

In the search menu, type in how to replace starter pull rope on (make) leaf blower...etc..

This way you will have visualization to go along with the instructions.

It's not super difficult, you can do this!! Good luck

I can't pull the starter cord. It is stuck

You have one of three problems.
1) The engine is flooded/hydrolocked. Pull the spark plug and see if the pull starter frees up.
2) Unit was left out and got wet. Take starter assembly off unit and see if is rusty and shoot penetrating oil into spring housing avoiding the rope area.
3) Damaged starter assembly from animal infestation or debris sucked in from leaf blowing. All you can do is buy a replacement unit and swap it up.

Good luck and be safe!

I have a craftsman blower 358.797130 and the pull core broke .i have taken everything apart but can not get the pully off the seal o ring seems to be stoping it help the manual is no help

Yes, owner operator manuals cover very little in the way of repairs. If you have the unit taken apart down to the starter/recoil unit and you want to replace or rewind the rope on the pulley...it shouldn't have to be removed, unless the starter spring has broken. These units have a cheap starter system that wears easily and causes the problem you have. If you can, preload the spring (before installing the rope ) by turning it several times in the tension direction and then hold it in place and install the rope, Observe how the old rope is looped around the inner core of the starter if you install new rope.

Pull starter handle is locked in it's orginal position, pulling on the handle does nothing

Unless the starter rope jumped track and is causing the problem, it sounds like the engine is locked up.
