SOURCE: I heard a dripping sound and discovered it was

The common thing is the water line hook up to the back of the frige. First find the shut off. It is usually under the sink or behind the fridge. Roll the fridge out slowly so as not to damage line further. Also roll it straight as not to damage floor. Once u turn off the water line listen to make sure the water drip has stopped if it stops thats the problem. The line is very easy and simple to change yourself. You can get the plastic ones or copper one at the home centers.

or like this if its under sink either way follow the line from fridge to find it.

My ice maker makes a lot of noise at night I wake hearing it making ice droping sounds. I don't use a lot of ice can I turn the infrared receiving switch to off?

The noise is probably ice dropping into the pan and the normal ice maker and water valve sounds associated with making ice. Most Whirlpool models have a slide cover to "turn off" the ice maker - closing this cover fools the control into thinking the bin is full. Your owner's manual should provide greater detail on this option.

BROKEN INFRARED ICE CONTROL - ON WHIRLPOOL SIDE BY SIDE. CAN I REPLACE THAT PART?

Hi,

The part you need to replace is 4389102 this comes with both boards and replace them as a pair. I have a question though, is the harvest fingers in the ice maker at position like a clock? Also to confirm the flashing of the light when the flap is depressed it 2 flashes and a pause? Not 1 flash and a pause, this means unit is harvesting and the ice maker should be moving and if not the ice maker could have a broken gear. This control unit could run you about 100 buck so make sure this is what you need before your purchase. Good Luck

I had that problem before and it is happening now, whirlpool side-by-side stopped making ice. last time it was a problem with infrared light, can you tell me how to check for it? there is infrared eye that...

Yes, when you open the freezer door, the small red light should start to flash, you should see a flap on the left side wall, push it in so it is flush with the wall, now the eyes should see each other and the red light should go to a steady on, put your other finger over the other eye on the right and the red light should start flashing again, if not then you most likely have a eye malfunction. Hope this helps, Rick
