You must redo your threading, something is not right. Are you going by what the book says? If so, then call Brother at 1-877-276-8437 and they will tell you if there is something mechanically wrong with your machine. They will walk you through all of the steps. Good luck

This is on a 5.0 pfaff sewing it will build a bird nest below the plate

Remove the top thread from the machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning.
Verify the thread path is correct.
Set the top tension to the midway point (may need to tweak this for your particular machine).

Remove the bobbin thread from the machine. Reinstall the bobbin in the bobbin case confirming the bobbin is turning the correct direction and the bobbin case is correctly threaded.

Pull the bobbin thread up to the top of the fabric and gently hold both thread tails in your left hand when slowly taking the first couple of stitches.

Have a juki tension top and bottom loose, top tension mechanism tight what do i do?

Remove the thread from the machine. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and re-thread from the beginning. Verify that the thread follows the correct path. Set the upper tension to the midway point between high & low number.

Re-install the bobbin (make sure it turns the correct direction in the bobbin case). Thread the bobbin thread through the bobbin tension.

Test your machine.

My upper thread wont pick up the bobbin thread suddenly. How do I fix that problem?

Install a brand new needle. A bent/dull/damaged needle sometimes will not pick up bobbin thread.

Check that the needle is installed facing the correct direction.

Also check that the bobbin is wound smoothly, the bobbin is turning the correct direction in the bobbin case, and the bobbin tension is threaded correctly.

If it still will not pick up the bobbin thread, there is most likely a timing issue, ie the needle is arriving at the wrong time to intercept the bobbin thread. Search the internet for sewing machine timing discussions or take it for service.

My machine will not pick up the bobbin thread

Install a brand new needle (verify it is facing the proper direction).

Remove all the thread from the machine. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading. Rethread the machine from the beginning--verify the thread path is correct. Leave at least 4-6" of thread tail. from the needle (Avoid using old or bargain bin thread.)

Insert the bobbin in the bobbin case (make sure the bobbin is turning the correct direction) and thread the bobbin case. Load the bobbin case in the machine. Leave at least 4-6" of thread tail.

Set the upper tension to the midway point.

Retest your machine. Turn the handwheel toward you manually until the needle completes one full cycle of going down and up.

If it is still not picking up the bobbin thread, it may have a needle/hook timing issue. Take it for service.

My bobbin and thread are constantly breaking. I have the correct thread to needle, but I don't even get one stitch before both break. Tension is on auto; should it be less or more?

is the needle in the holder the correct way ( groove in the needle facing the thread )
Is the needle eye the correct size for the thread in use

remove it from auto tension setting and adjust it your self
make sure that the top thread is between the tension plates and not around the thread behind the plates
the thread tension is close to correct when you need a bit of a pull to pull it along to the needle
is the method of threading to the needle correct as any areas where the thread reverses direction will cause it to break
what do mean that the bobbin is constantly breaking or is it the bobbin thread that is breaking
have you got the thread down the case slot and under the flat spring correctly
the bobbin has to be inserted into the case in such a manner that when the thread is pulled , it flows down the slot freely as the bobbin turns
if the direction is wrong , the thread has to move across the sharp edge of the slot and will cut easily

When i sew a test piece of fabric on my sewing machine to check the stitching, the top thread seems fine but the bottom thread is loose and adjusting the tension doesn't seem to help

there are two thread tensioners on a machine
the first one is on the front of the machine for the top thread
the second is the small screw that holds the small flat spring under which you pull the thread after you put the bobbin in the holder
as you put the bobbin in the holder you have to pull the thread around the side until it slips into a small slot then under a retainer spring
that spring is adjustable by that small screw
the amount of tension added or released by that screw is minute so as little as 1/8 turn has a big bearing on the amount of tension of the bobbin thread so turn it just a small bit at a time until the thread tension is correct

The needle on my machine will not bring up the bobbin thread. The bobbin is threaded correctly, and the needle is threaded correctly. Nothing else seems to broken. The needle runs just fine, but the bobbin...

Which model do you have?

The needle needs to be inserted properly and the thread needs to pass through the eye in the right direction.

The handwheel must be turned in the correct direction.

The take-up lever must be threaded.

If all of this is satisfactory, the hook timing may be off.

Remove the bobbin case and set the machine to straight stitch, center needle position.

Turn the handwheel until the needle reaches it's lowest position. Turn the handwheel so that the needle raises about 2.2mm. The point of the hook should be directly behind the needle. If not, you may have a timing issue and will need a knowledgeable repair person to recalibrate the hook timing.
