Question about Troy Garden

2 Answers

I am having trouble with my Troy Bilt riding mower in getting it to start. I have charged the battery. The mower started yesterday and when I finished and tried restarting it behaved as if the battery was dead. The battery is less than six months old. I have tried to recharge the battery and it still won't start. The engine will not turn over.

Hello. Unhook that battery and take it to your local auto parts store to be tested, a free service. Clean the inside of the battery clamps and the battery terminals before reinstalling it. When you reinstall, make sure you are tightening down the clamps using a proper fitting open end wrench or a proper fitting socket wrench. Also, change the spark plug and the air filter unless you have already done so during this mowing season.

Having done these things, your battery will start the tractor and it should recharge itself as you mow. If you find within the next couple of mowings that the battery is low once again, that indicates that the tractor's charging system is bad, or that you have a short somewhere within the tractor which is causing a constant drain on the battery. Check your battery and see if its fully charged. I had a battery that the charger said was fully charged but a cell was dead. Take it to a battery store and they will check it free of charge.
If that's not the problem check all the battery cables on both ends for being tight and clean. If that's not the problem you could have a bad starter.

Sounds like the battery is too dead to start it, try charging the battery to see if it improves. Check the battery connections to make sure they are clean and tight. Hope this helps

It may not be charging due to a bad connection to the battery or to the generator on the engine. The generator on the engine may be going or has gone bad.

I hope this helps.

I have trouble starting my troybuilt 0 turn 42' ride mower when i first st art it for the day. i have to spray gas into the carb to start.it,s only a year old

Does the battery need replacing ? The voltage should be above 12.8V for easy starting, Alternator should be charging at about 14 volts.
Check the choke plate is operating properly.
Check air filter is clean.
