My upper cabinet won't steam, it skips the steam cycle and goes straight from dry to scent no matter what setting I select.

I have the same problem. Contacted Maytag while still under warranty but he did not get it repaired. Have you had any luck getting this repaired? ( I'm sorry to post this under solutions, but I couldn't find another way to contact you)

Frigidaire diswasher not drying dishes properly

Make sure you have the heated dry setting selected, use rinse aid at all times, and make sure the unit is getting hot. If it is not, or there is no steam generated when you open the unit after cycle - have a professional diagnose the heating element.

When we take the dishes out they are all wet

Choose the hottest rinse cycle first Economy cycles don't work properly Make sure you have rinse aid in the dispenser. Make sure the machine is heating properly too. An aid do drying is to open the door of the dishwasher just when the cycle finishes steam should come out and the water in the cabinet will condense to the walls and dry the dishes. some top end models do this with a push rod..... believe it or not (Miele) go to my website for a detailed explanation about drying www.appliances.cjb.net you can contact me from there too for further follow up good luck

Dish feels hot but not drying

sounds like your heating element is not working prtoperly or you are not washing in very hot water stop washer in middle of cycle and open it if steam come out hot steam be careful keep face away when you open itif not hot that could be the problem,A appliance serviceman once told me if water is hot enough and end of wash and rinse cycle not to run the dry cyvcle just open dryer a few inches and let the steam out Run hot water over a plate or a pot and set it in the drain tray in your sink notice how fast it dries itself while draining in the tray very hot water in a dish washer dopes the same good luck with this problem I hope my advice helps you oh yes one more thing always run the hot water till it get hot before you turn your dishwasher on

Drying Cabinet above emits a smoky scent but there is no smoke

These cabinets seem like such a good concept.
While I have never worked on one, I would first take the back off (having disconnected the power) and look for a build-up of lint on the heat exchanger/heating coil assembly. Check that ducts are free of built-up lint and fans turn freely.
Lightly lubricate the motor shafts with a drop of machine oil. reassemble and run a test cycle monitoring carefully (keep a fire extinguisher at hand and a clear path to exit the building, have ready access to a telephone, know how to turn off the main power in your home). You will likely need none of these precautions but it's best to be safe and prepared.
Most dryer failures are related to lint build-up leading to excess heat. Clear vent ducts frequently, clean out the inside every few years, lubricate lightly at the same time.

Door gasket or sealOver time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly. You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.

Shelly on some of the older models they used a inline resistor on the dryers timer. It looks like a inline fuse comming off the timer. If it goes bad the timer will not stop. Check the attachment. Cost around 17.00, Catriver, post back. Part number 3401076
