My matag gas dryer wont heat on any setting.

On a gas dryer the exhaust duct fuse mounted right next to the control T-stat kills the power to the gas assembly if the blower is restricted or worn out. A common problem with these dryers. If power is indeed getting to the gas assembly I would first check for continuity of the flame sensor switch mounted on the side of the burner area. It's job is to allow the ignitor to fire up when power is delivered to the gas assembly from the control t-stat on that blower housing. The flame sensor has to open when the ignitor reaches 1800f. At that point in time the ignitor becomes a thermocouple even with no power going to it it allows continuity through the coils so that they will get energy enough to yank open the gas valve. While the ignitor is glowing it is hogging all that power and the coils simply cannot pull the valve open. Sometimes a gas dryer will work a little then quit. that would be thos coils on the gas valve are weak. They get hot and fail. To get into the dryer you must first remove the door so that you can next get the front panel off. That will revieal the top holdown clips you remove. Then you can get the shroud off and remove the drum. I bet you would like a service manual for this beast:

My gas dryer burner does not heat. The igniter does not glow even to permit the gas valve to turn on. Everything else works and checks out being good, such as the thermostats, igniter, flame sensor. ...

You could check the igniter by testing to see if 120 volts is at the wiring the igniter plugs into, if 120 vac at that plug the igniter is bad Also need to check THERMAL FUSE,in addation to thermostat,on electric dryers if thermal fuse is out it cuts circuit to motor, on many brand dryers if thermal fuse bad on GAS dryer it cuts circuit to igniter

Igniter won't glow

Hi,
I am assuming that everything works OK except you have no heat?
When you turn on dryer listen for gas valve to click(this may take a few seconds). If you don't have a click then the gas valve my be bad or it is not getting power.

Dryer has to be running to check for power only experienced persons should perform machine running power tests.
Let me know If I can do anything else to help.

Amana gas dyer wont turn model #lga30aw

Hi.

If the machine stays completely off, does not ignite, does not spark, does not turn, and does not show any sign of power, check the power outlet, and the power cord.

If the machine starts, ignites, but the drum does not turn, then the following parts must be tested:

PS2166310 Motor Switch Kit (part 3 diag 2 )

PS2021298 Motor Assembly (part 5 diag 2 )

PS2046298 TIMER, 4 CYCLE (part 5 Diag 1)

If the Dryer does not ignite or does not heat test the following:

If it does not ignite:

PS2039618 BURNER IGNITOR ASSY (part 7 - diag 4)

PS383994 Two Terminal Gas Valve Coil (p.8 -d.4)

PS383993 Secondary Coil Valve (p.12 d.4)

PS2046673 VALVE,ELBOW SHUT-OFF (p.14 - d.4)

PS2039380 Gas Valve Wire Harness

PS2201082 Limit Thermostat (part 7 - Diag 3)

If it turn but does not heath check also fan assembly and PS2046273 Cycling Thermostat (part 27 - Diag 2)

My whirlpool gas dryer will not heat. It only spins.

If the dryer won't heat but does run, it is more likely to be the gas ignitor assembly, assuming there is gas available to the dryer. If the thermal fuse was bad, the dryer wouldn't start at all.

Dryer start up fine then the gas turns off as ignitor continues

Hi Jim. Perhaps this will help you.

The burner assembly consists of the gas valve, the igniter and sensor, and the thermostats. The gas supplied to the appliance is turned on and off by the gas valve, as follows:

  • First--when you close the dryer door, set the timer, and press or turn the Start button--the motor starts. When it reaches full speed (in about a second) a switch on the motor turns on, which allows the electricity to flow through a simple thermostat to one side of the gas valve.

  • The gas valve then sends power to the igniter, which glows bright orange.

  • As heat and light from the igniter warm up a sensor that's right next to the igniter, the sensor circuit opens, then supplies power to the other side of the gas valve. This completes the circuit and opens the valve.

  • Once the valve opens, the gas rushes out and the igniter ignites it. As the gas burns, it keeps the sensor warm, which keeps the gas flowing.

  • When the dryer reaches the pre-set drying temperature, a simple thermostat turns off the flow of electricity to the gas valve and therefore turns off the gas.

  • When the temperature in the dryer falls about 20 to 30 degrees, the thermostat again allows the electricity to flow through to the gas valve, and the cycle starts over.

If you selected the Automatic setting, the cycle continues until the clothes are dry, then the timer advances and turns the dryer off.

If you selected a timed setting, the cycle continues until the time has expired, then the timer turns off the dryer

Where is the coil valve located?

The coils on this unit are located on the gas/burner valve Assembly. this is a all in one situation. everything is located on the gas valve assembly. you will need to remove the coils from the gas valve assembly.they are attached to the valve assembly.

Located on the back side of the unit on the lower back side. (right)

Maytag Gas Dryer SDG515DAWW - heating stopped

The heat is regulated with a Klixon mounted next to the blower housing near the vent pipe so it can judge the temperature of the air coming out of the drum.Right next to it is a melting type fuse. If the dryer runs and gets too hot the fuse will melt. But the dryer will still run. So if the fuse is good(continuity) and the dryer control(cycle) thermostat is also good then you should have power going to the gas valve assembly when the machine is running unless the timer is in the no heat or wrinkle free/cool down mode. When the gas valve assembly is energized the flame sensor a%20flame%20sensor%202.bmp flame sensor mounted outside the burner chamber detects the heat from the ignitor. When the heat is very intense then the sensor shuts down the igniter
a%20igniter.jpg Igniter and that frees up the power so that the coils can be fully energised and open the gas gates. The gas comes out and hits the red hot igniter and you have ignition. It stays on for maybe 2 or 3 minutes or until the control thermostat is satisfied and shuts down power to the gas valve assembly.
