This indicates a problem with the pickup head. First I would suggest cleaning the laser head with a disk made for that purpose. If this does not work, then I would suggest (if you have a background in electronics) taking the cover off and checking the bias voltages on the laser pick head (comparring them to the schematic values). What I believe is happening is just a dust problem, however if it is a circuitry problem, contact the manufacture or use the schematic/service manual to locat OEM parts.
I would, however try to clean the pickup head first.
I hope this helps,

Ensure that your connections are securely in place; a loose cable can cause signal loss and yet may not be totally obvious from a qick inspection.

Please remove any disc from the unit and try resetting it by removing the disc and placing the unit in stop mode. If you now press and hold the fast forward skip button on the front of the main unit for over 10 seconds. To confirm the reset, when you power the unit off and on the language selection screen should dispaly.

I have a Aquos Blu-Ray HP20 with the Disc tray stuck in.
It started with a Disc stuck in and I had to open the tray manualy by pulling it out. I had to push it back in and now it will not come out on the button or remote. I can pull it out put a Disc in and push it back in but it will not play and makes a grating sound. I think I may have done it a mischief. Any one out there have any ideas.
