You can recover hp password with Smartkey Windows Password Recovery, just do as the following steps,

Step 1: Download Smartkey Windows Password Recovery, setup and run it on the accessible computer. Don't forget to insert a blank CD.
Step 2: On the main interface, choose "reset Windows local account password". And tick "CD/DVD".
Step 3: Start burning a bootable CD by clicking on "Burn".
Step 4: Insert this CD to the computer you can't access to and boot it from CD. You will enter the interface of Windows Password recovery under Win PE.
Step 5: follow the wizard to select your system and account you'd like to reset password. Click "Reset" and then "Yes" in the next popup.
Step 6: The last step you need to do is to restart your computer, and your Windows password has been deleted.

Have you tried while in Windows, to use the Start Menu, find Acer on the All Programs list, and locate the recovery utility? I have an Acer laptop - an Aspire - and had to do exactly that. I used the built-in recovery routine on the Acer Laptop and was able to rebuild my laptop to the condition of when it just came out of the box, brand new.It will delete all your installations since you got it, applications and documents and photos, etc., will be gone, but your laptop will function as if brand new. Good luck with it. -a.

System recovery error

WOW, once again the recovery fails when you need it most. I don't understand why the manufacturers don't just give you a CD with the operating system and one with the Recovery when you purchase a system like they did years ago.

Did this error occur on a recovery image that you made (Cd's) or was it from using the Recovery Partition on the hard disk drive that the manufacturer set up? Either way, I think your best option is to just reinstall windows.

Cant get to f8 screen

LOL, most times those recovery CD's don't work. OK, I've never heard of hitting F8 to get to the System Recovery screen. Normally hitting F8 repeatedly after you hit the power button gets you into SAFE MODE or some other options for booting. I would remove the CD from the cd drive and turn off the computer, then turn it on and immediately hit F8 until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option. Let it boot up. Safe mode will look different than normal windows. The icons will be bigger and the screen darker, but that's normal. Once safe mode is up click Start/Program/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. Run System Restore and select a restore point (date and time) before you started having a problem. Don't worry, system restore does not destroy your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

System Recovery DELETES EVERYTHING and sets your computer back to when it was first purchased. If you must run System Recovery F8 is not the key you should be pressing.

I found the info below by putting "Alienware PC Systems M7700 System Recovery" in a google search. Sounds like you bought yourself a piece of trash.
25. System Restore And Recovery Is Not For Wimps The system restore process for the Alienware Aurora M7700 is definitely not for beginners. For one thing, the process doesn't fire off automatically as promised (at least that's what we read on the label affixed to the recovery CD included with the unit). Instead, system restore involves a complete Windows XP Home reinstall "from scratch." Likewise, the drivers don't reside on the Master CD as described in the documentation. Rather, they're located on the Utility CD. During the driver installation phase, it's irritating to get no progress report on individual drivers, perhaps by way of a simple progress bar. Also irksome, the system reboots automatically after the installation of each individual driver. Finally, those who want to succeed at restoring the M7700 back to full operability better know what a disk partition is and understand that the RAID driver must be installed from a diskette.

I have 2 problems. My Acer Aspire 560z keyboard types garbage for some reason, so I am using an external KB. Then, I want to restore the laptop to factory settings, but the cd's are lost. I don't...

Keyboard - Do you have the NumLock on?

From the ACER support site:

To start the system recovery:

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media. If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, you may purchase the set online from the Acer Recovery Media Order Form..
Note: If your computer does not have an internal optical disc drive, an external optical disc drive will be required in order to recover the Operating System using Acer Recovery Media.
  1. Restart the computer.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly to enter the computer's Boot Menu.
  3. Press the CD-ROM drive eject button and insert the disc labeled System CD.
  4. Close the CD-ROM tray.
  5. Refer to on screen instructions to select either CDROM or USB CDROM.
  6. The computer will boot from the Acer Recovery Media
  7. When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.
Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first of the Recovery CDs.
  8. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
Note: if your computer is unable to run the Acer Recovery process, or errors occur during recovery, please contact Acer support.

Recovery problem i don,t have recovery CD

What's the brand and model of your computer? Usually it has an image partition to automatically recover your computer to its factory settings, if your computer has that you will be able to recover your computer without the CD but if not there's no other option but to buy a recovery disc.

Windows OS

You need to get the OS on a CD. Every computer technician has one. You can’t download it. If you don’t have the recovery CD or DVD, try to order it. Good luck.
