Who can repair a Gateway DC-T50

Refer to the manual page below - note the last 2 items
If you take the camera and the card to a sales outlet the assistants are usually helpful

Inserting an SD Memory Card(Optional)
All images and video clips taken by the camera can be stored in an SD (Secure
Digital) Memory Card. Even if the camera's power is OFF, the images saved in the
SD Memory Card are not erased. An SD Memory Card can be repeatedly read and
written. You may also expand the memory capacity up to 512MB so that you can
store additional images and video clips.
1. Make sure the camera is off.
2. Slide the battery/SD Memory Card cover in the direction of the [OPEN] arrow.
3. Insert an SD Memory Card :
The front side of the memory card (printed
arrow) should face towards the front side
of the camera.
If the card cannot be inserted, check the
orientation.
4. Close the battery/SD Memory Card cover.
To remove the SD Memory Card, make sure
the camera is off. Open the battery/SD Memory Card card cover. Press
lightly on the edge of the memory card and it will eject.
Note:
If the camera is powered-on without the card, the "NO CARD" message appears on
the LCD monitor.
To prevent valuable data from being accidentally
erased from an SD Memory Card you can slide the
write-protected tab (on the side of the SD Memory
Card) to "LOCK".
To save, edit or erase data on an SD Memory Card,
you must unlock the card.
MultiMedia Card (MMC) can not be used.
You need to format an SD Memory Card before using it in this camera

After locking memory card, do I then unlock it to take pictures and will that then erase the memory card or can you tell me how to so

Locking the memory card prevents you from taking and adding photos to the memory card. It also prevents you from deleting photos from the memory card.
If you want to erase all the photos off the memory card. unlock the memory card, go to the camera's Menu and scroll through the settings ti Format the memory card, then format the memory card.

Why does camerano longer save pictures?

Hi Linda -

First, the manual is available to freely download, view and print - here. It might be a good time to give it a "once over" to refamiliarize yourself with the camera functions and operations.

Does the camera work with a different card? If so, the problem is likely due to an issue with the card, not the camera.

Page 22 describes how to format the card and make it ready for use. You should make sure any photos on it already aren't needed or have been copied to another location before proceeding - as formatting erases the entire contents of the memory card. It will be very difficult to retrieve any of the old data on the card after you format it.

If unable to format the card - that is could be the reason why images are not saving to it - but it may also be due to the position of the lock / unlock tab on the memory card. You would normally see a "Card locked!" message on screen if this is the case however. Just to be sure, check page 16 of the manual to see how to check and change the position of the lock / unlock tab. When set to unlock, carefully reinsert the card into the camera again.

Page 53 describes how to perform a "Low Level" format on the memory card when "Memory error appears or when the camera does not work correctly". Low level formatting takes longer than a standard format mentioned above.

My last suggestion is to contact Canon Customer / Tech Support if the issue persists, but hopefully, one of the suggestions above will solve the problem. Good luck!

How cani unlock my camera? i cant delete my pictures?

Erasing a memory card: when erasing a memory card, individual photos are deleted from their directories on the card. You can erase one or more user selected images at a time, or erase all images at one time. However, any images that you've selected to be "protected" through another menu option will not be removed during the erasure process.

Formatting a memory card: format a memory card sample menuFormatting, on the other hand, deletes all images from a memory card, even the ones that may have been protected. It recreates the file system including new directories and folders where images are saved on the card.

Unlike erasing, formatting improves the overall performance of a card.

Low level formatting: some digital cameras offer a low level format in addition to the standard format option. With a low level format, all data on the card is deleted. New directories and folders are also recreated during this process.

A low-level format of a high speed memory card helps ensure smooth continuous shooting at a constant interval. For optimal video performance, it's also recommended that a low level format be done sometime prior to recording.

In camera, not computer: though opinions vary, many recommend formatting a memory card in a digital camera, not via a computer. If you plan to use a memory card that was previously used in another camera, format the card in the new camera before taking any shots.

Hope this helps and just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Canon powershot A540 I have tried to erase memory card but it says card locked. How do I unlock.

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

The screen message is "this memory card is locked"

Your question does not display properly, but I'll assume that the error message is telling you that your memory card is locked and cannot be written to.

Make sure that the camera is turned off and then remove the SD memory card from the camera.

Look at the card carefully, and you'll see a small switch used to lock the card to protect the data from being deleted/overwritten. Slide it fully to the unlocked position; if it's already there then slide it fully to locked and then fully to unlocked.

If this doesn't work then remove the card again and use a CLEAN pencil eraser on the electrical contacts to clean them. Do not use a dirty eraser as the graphite on the eraser is electrically conductive and can ruin your SD card. Also do not use an ink eraser as they're very abrasive and usually have conductive metal particles in them.

If this still does not work then you need to buy or borrow another SD card and make sure that it's switch is fully unlocked. If it works then you have a faulty SD card and must replace it with a new one, if not then you have a camera fault and this is beyond the scope of any DIY/FixYa repair.

I hope that my posting has assisted you and in return I ask only that you please take a moment to rate my answer.

Internal memory is full,I have erased all

Take out memory card from camera, format internal memory to delete all pictures at once or delete them one by one.
Once memory card is inserted in camera, internal memory is no longer available to store/ delete pictures so remove memory card from camera to get access to internal memory.

When I put the memory card in the camera it says 'cannot read' it. How do I format the card? I know it has the right 'size' memory. The memory card I am using is the same one I used a few months ago and I...

Do not use the computer to erase the card. This is the reason your camera no longer recognizes the card. Now you need to format the card in the camera to get it to work properly.
