SOURCE: MURRAY AUTOMATIC DRIVE, 42

Your problem could be caused because your valves are not set properly (they vibrate loose sometimes. Remove your spark plug and try to crank theengine...If it turns freely with the pulug out, reset your valves..be sure to obtain the proper spacing (gap). Hope this helps

Murray 17.5 twin ii model 42a707 will not start. Acts like too much compression

If it is too compression then the bump decompression lobes on the camshaft are worn down. If this is the case then the camshaft needs replacing.
Bad news here as a new replacement camshaft is not available. Used cams are available on Ebay but you need to determine which of the three different cams you need for you type number.

What type oil and what level should I put in my 6-7yr old Murrary riding garden tractor. Model=?, but 25 HP, 2cyl 52 inch deck.

You didn't specify what engine is on your Murray, but most of them were either Briggs & Stratton or Tecumseh. Both of these engine take SAE HD30 weight motor oil. Appoximately 48 ounces will fill these from a complete drain.
If your Murray has an imported engine (honda or kawasaki) then they would use 10W30 oil.
Good luck!

Can't find location of oil filter on engine, manual shows where it should be but it's not there. Model#

If your model # ends in 707, as in 42A707, it does not have an oil filter. You would see it sticking out of the left side if it had one, as in 42A777. You have an opposed twin,a very good engine, unfortunatly, not made anymore. Most of them did not have an oil filter. Dwain
