ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.

Note: This method works with most front loading machines.

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Note: Some tops hinge and tilt backwards so they do not have to be removed and the electrical console with stay with the lid.
Also remove the lint filter and the screws holding the lint filter housing in place.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor.
Now is a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.

SOURCE: Squeak

Pinot, usually the squeak on these 417's is coming from the drum ball and plastic bearing. Sometimes they crack and sometimes just need to be greased. Go to this link http://www3.sears.com/ and enter your model number, upper left hand corner. Follow the link and click on view diagram, page 1. Look at number 12 and 34. This is the drum hitch and plastic bearing. Your husband will have to remove the top and once he has the belt off, pull up on the drum to get it off the bearing, (plastic coupling that the ball sets into. If it's not cracked and the ball is is good shape, just grease it. If it's cracked and the ball is a chewed up, replace them both. This job is done better with 2 people cause it's not the easiest deal. You can find the part numbers on the parts link right next to view diagram. Let the cat know if you need any more help, Catriver.

SOURCE: Inglis Citation dryer still squeaks

just an idea.....try to match the squeak to the revolutions of the drum or the guide pulley.
if the squeak is fast it is probably a guide pulley or a roller that the drum rides on. if the squeak is farther apart then the drum is wearing in one spot and rubbing on something. check for wear spots around the drum area.
hope this helps.........jay

SOURCE: Dryer belt squeaks

I've had "squeak" problems in the past with my Maytag gas dryer. It sounds like either a dry roller bushing (there are no bearings), an incorrectly installed belt (e.g, routed over belt tensioner instead of under), or a dry idler pulley. Since you did not indicate that you had recently replaced the belt, I would rule the second cause out and concentrate on the dry roller bushing or idler pulley. For both, a high temperature grease is recommended, since the right roller is located just above the burner cone and is subjected to heat.

Really Bad Squeeky Noise

It could be a squeal from the dryer belt. It could be from a belt that has gotten loose, like you hear on a car sometimes when it first starts up, but usually they don't get loose. They just break. Maybe something has gotten jammed between the dryer drum and the interior of the dryer making it hard for the belt to turn the drum and so it is squealing. Does the drum turn by hand without too much force and without squealing?

Inglis dryer is squealing like a belt loose. it subsides during cycle but a burnt rubber smell is very prominent when finished

Replace the belt - it is old and worn out. The belt is made of rubber and is slipping, causing the smell and squeak. The belt heats up and becomes more flexible after the dryer runs a while; this is why the squealing stops.

Dryer sqeaks while it's running

This could be the result of a loose/worn belt, or worn drum roller bearings. Is it a constant squeal or a squeak......squeak.........squeak, basically in time with the RPM of the drum? If that is the case, get new drum bearings. If the former is the case, get a new belt.

The squeak is actually the rear bearing WE3X75.
98fbf6b.jpegOddly enough although this might be your part you should use your model number to order the part. Different production runs I guess. Theis dude mounts in the rear
66ec823.jpgright in the center of the heater. This bearing gets real thin and when almost gone starts the squeal. You must remove the drum to get to the backside and replace that dude. I have a pictorial and more HERE.

My 11 year old electric Ge dryer squeaks when running.

WD-40. (Water Displacement test number 40)
Most likely just humidity and splashing water finally got to the parts and create a bit of rust, corrosion, and wear. Squeaking is nothing to worry about. If it starts to squeal then you have a problem.
