Question about Saeco Magic De Luxe Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Replacement Parts My machine is 15 months old and has produced 5700 cups of perfect expresso. My brew group is growning like it need lubrication and the "O" and I would like to replace the O ring The panarello need a need O ring and the two rubber seals that hold unit on the steam pipe. Right now the panarello shots off the end. This makes steaming milk a bit of a challenge. Also I would think there are hoses in the the unit that need replacing, are these availbile for purchase. Thank You Harry Derra

You can purchase the brew group lubrication on our website. The orings for the panarello are not available and you would have to purchase the whole thing. You can also find panarello's on our website. You may not find the exact one, but most of them are the same size.

What do I need to do when error 8 is displayed on turning on machine?

Jura does not allow access to internal parts for cleaning. Brew group is the dirtiest part as it deals with complicated movements to make coffee.
Error 8 means the brew group is not returning to start position after it completes entire cycle to make coffee.
Jura recommends to remove drip tray. Using a thin cloth, insert the hand all the way under the machine. You will feel access to the bottom of the brew group. Wipe clean the bottom of brew group as best as you can. There will be lot of coffee powder (wet & dry) that is partially responsible to prevent brew group return to start position.
A better method is to open the machine using special key. Clean & lubricate the brew group. every two months. This will prevent Fungus and Bacteria growth. .

Why are the used grinding pads on my saeco odeo giro very loose and watery

I can personally confirm this fix from another similar question works: "I throughly cleaned and lubricated the brew group as directed by the manual. Apparently if the brew group doesn't move smoothly enough, it won't grind the correct amount of beans. Try lubricating and then brewing 2-3 cups to have the machine recalibrate the grind amount." My manual didn't have very good info about lubricating the brew group, so I referred to some Youtube videos demonstrating the methods. A sourced a 3rd party food safe lubricant from Amazon which I applied with Q-tips, but in retrospect they also sell Saeco "maintenance kits" which would have been cheaper & easier to apply, plus it includes a new O-ring.

Do you know where can i find the rubber gasket that goes around the brew head of my Cuisinart EM 100 espresso machine ?

It sounds to me that your group seal is bad. Since this machine is a 15-Bar unit, it puts out quite a bit of pressure causing water to leak out around the portafilter when making espresso if your seal is old or damaged. The pressure doesn't build up as much when you are running just water through the machine - hence the reason why the machine works ok without grounds. I sell a LOT of parts and accessories for various manufacturers of espresso machines. This particular seal is extremely difficult to locate fom Cuisinart, but is rather easy to replace. Through extensive testing, I have located a replacement gasket produced by another major manufacturer that fits the Cuisinart EM-100 & EM-200 machines perfectly. I sell them for $10.99 each (or two for $19.99) which includes shipping in the continental US and I accept Paypal. If you would like to contact me via email (, I will be happy to help you out.

My machine wont give me much water into the brewgroup tried another brewgroup and it is the same . Iyt takes about a minute to put thru one shot of coffee and we only get about 10mm of expresso in the cup...

If you push the scoop but don't put any coffee in the brew group, what happens? If it brews right (water comes out), then I would suspect that your coffee is too fine. Push the lever below the grinder on the right to the back (#7) and then try to brew again. Don't let it go all the way. Push the coffee button as soon as it starts to brew. Do this 3 times. The 4th time let it go and see if it will brew. If it doesn't I would need more information.

Cannot release the brew group for, saeco

Group is stuck in mid cycle due to some obstruction. You will need to have it serviced. Though it's possible to jiggle and pull it out. The machine will not likely reset itself, preventing you from re-inserting the group. Still requires a service to manually remove obstruction and reset it.

Odea giro plus gear that drives the brew group has broken 3 times

First, you're going to need to get the brew group out. Check this out to get the brew group out. You need to remove a screw and pull unless you're really crafty.

This video will help.
After that:

a) Yes, lubing will help.
b) Replace the o-ring on the piston in the brew group (it should be orange). It gets old and gummy creating resistance.
c) Reinforce the weak plastic that gets over-torqued.

I own three of these units, one from 2007 (made in Italy, never broke, has tens of thousands of brews) and two newer units (made in Eastern Europe, fewer brews, both broke). I can distinguish the newer ones because they have a "sleep mode". They really overtorque the gear.

I tried repairing with just glue and that lasted (surprisingly) several months. I tried again by using a thick paperclip as a drill bit and that lasted 7 months.

Now with the holes piloted, I drilled a little wider and put in heavier metal from a heavy-duty binder clip. Cheap and very strong! Let's see how long this lasts.

See before and after pictures. This metal won't bend!
