Question about Pioneer Audio & Video Receivers

2 Answers

I have the Elite VSX 92TXH receiver. It is connected to Definitive Tech 8ohm speakers and Mitsubishi Diamond 46" HDTV. About every other day, the receiver "freezes up." The only solution has been to unplug from power source and restart. Any troubleshooting would be appreciated.

I already have an owner's manual. That was the first place I looked. This problem is not addressed. The troubleshooting guide offers suggestion for when the power shuts off to use "banana clips" for spearker wiring, and I've done that. Hasn't solved the "freezing up" I'm experiencing.

I'm using the Panamax 4300-PM power source. The "freezing up" is intermittant, and no discernable timeframes. Sometimes when I first turn on the system, sometimes in the middle of a tv show. And its not everyday. It is in a rear vented cabinet with no other components on the same shelf. Overheating shouldn't be the issue, but I haven't tested temp.

Is it freezing up after long periods of use which would suggest overheating. How do you have it plugged in? Perhaps the power supply is causing a problem. Are you using a surge protector?

Please let me know the answers to my questions so that I can narrow down this problem, thanks

After speaking with Pioneer, I confirmed with them that this is definitely not normal and is due to an internal problem and definitely not the speakers or the wire, which they will fix most likely with no charge to you. Give them a call at (800) 421-1404 for the nearest repair center or go to the top right of this webpage to find the nearest center.

Cannot hear my tv through a/v receiver

If it's a newer TV it will have an "optical" audio output, which will go to your AV receiver's CBL/SAT digital input. If it does not have an optical, chances are good that it has a "monitor out" which is Analog (RCA) which will work as well. If you need further help with this, post a comment and I can help you further.

Pioneer works with cable box but not with new blue

HDMI version is 1.3 in your receiver. The current version is 1.3b. I would suggest calling Pioneer cust assistance and see if there is a firmware update. Your unit has a 2 year parts & labor warranty. Their # is 1-800-421-1404 It sounds like a CODEC issue. Hope this helps

Series the speakers, they may not get as much power as you would like, but your receiver will last longer.

Pioneer Elite - VSX-92TXH I have had this unit for a about 1.5 years. Just recently, this unit will freeze up making it impossible for me to contol any functions including power down. The only way I can...

Disconnect the speakers from the rear of the receiver, then turn on a source like cable or dss. Close the doors and leave the volume on at about 35%. The receiver will still be carrying a load and creating heat. Let it play for a while and see if it shuts down. If it does, pull the unit out of the cabinet and repeat the test. At this point, if it shuts down, there is an internal issue and needs to be serviced. If it does not, reconnect your speakers, leaving the receiver out of the cabinet and test again. If it still does not shut down, you need some air movement in the cabinet via a DC fan. If you need more help, post a comment and I'll help some more. Sorry for the delay in answering your question, been a crazy week.
