Using Gmail as your Universal Inbox


Nowadays most people have more than one email account. If one of yours is a Gmail account, you can use it as your primary inbox to check all your POP3 accounts in your Gmail browser window. But do remember that you can check only other POP3 accounts only. You won’t be able to check Yahoo mail, Windows Live Hotmail, or other such web mail accounts. Also, not all POP3 servers work with Gmail.
Here is what you need to do. Open your Gmail account and click Settings-Accounts. In the ‘Get mail from other accounts‘ section, click Add another mail account. Enter the email address of the account you want to add, and click Next Step.
Enter your username, password and POP3 server. If you want to continue to access the account through a mail client or through the ISP’s own Web interface, in addition to picking up and sending mail in your Gmail account, check Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server. This allows you to read the mail in Gmail, but the mail will remain on the ISP’s server so that you can download it with your standard mail program or read it through the account’s own Web interface. On the other hand, if you plan on accessing the mail for the address only through your Gmail account, you can leave the box unchecked.
Next, check Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail to keep mail snoops at bay. In some instances a POP3 account may not work with an SSL connection: if that is the case, you will have to leave this box unchecked.
If you want all of your incoming messages from the account to carry a label, such as the name of the account, select Label incoming messages. In Gmail, a label works much as a folder does. You can view all mail that carries the same label by clicking the label. Gmail automatically creates a label for the address of the new account. You can select a different label or create a new one by choosing the appropriate entry from the drop-down list. Another option is to have messages bypass your inbox and go straight to your Gmail archive. This would be a good choice if you want to use Gmail primarily for searching through mail. When you’ve made all your selections, click Add Account.
You can compose mail in Gmail and have it appear to the recipient as if it were from the account you just added. When a message appears asking whether you want to create a custom From address, click Yes and follow the instructions.
Gmail will check your account, and any mail sent to either address will appear in your Gmail inbox. To stop Gmail from checking the mail, click Settings-Accounts and choose delete next to the account.

Add an additional user name


Assuming windows vista/7/8 just pop "user" into the start menu search bar and click on "user accounts." Then click manage another account. Next, hit create new account. Name the account something that's obviously for her, most likely her name. If this is a personal computer, I'd recommend making her an administrator rather than a standard user, so that you don't have to come type in your password if she wants to install things.

Your iPad can't change mail addresses You have to set up every mail account you want to use on the iPad. In settings choose mail and new. Then fill all boxes and press ok. The iPad then will check if you entered a correct mail address account and add the account unde your mail app.

Gmail access


You can combine multiple Gmail accounts into a single, primary Gmail account by using the POP3 Mail Fetcher application built into Gmail.
The Mail Fetcher enables you to retrieve email from POP3 email accounts, including Gmail, and send mail as if from a different email address all from within your primary Gmail account. Configure your primary account to manage your other Gmail accounts with the Mail Fetcher.

Sign in to the Gmail account that you want to use to manage your Gmail accounts.
Click the "Settings" icon, represented by a gear cog, in the top left and click "Mail Settings."

Click the "Accounts and Import" tab.
Click the "Add POP3 Email Account" button.
Enter the email address of your secondary email account and then click "Next Step."
Enter the password of your secondary email account and then click "Add Account."
Click the radio button beside "Yes, I want to be able to send email as
[SECONDARY EMAIL ADDRESS]" and then click "Next Step."

Enter the display name for your secondary email address and then click "Next Step."
Click "Send Verification" and then check your secondary email account.
Click the link contained in the verification email to confirm the integration of that account with your primary Gmail account.
All mail sent to your secondary Gmail is now delivered to your primary account, and when responding your secondary Gmail address is displayed in the From section of the email.

I switched to att.net for incredimail and am unable to send e-mai


If you are using windows mail you need to modify you account settings for the new mail server. You need to know your user name and password for your account. You will also need the Incoming Mail(POP3) and Outgoing Mail(SMTP) and if the server requires authentication. You will get this information from AT&T. Once you obtain this info you can modify the current account or add a new one using under the tools tab then accounts.

Is it possible to connect MS Outlook to yahoo.com?


yahoo's UK page has instructions on this and here they are: id rather paste theirs than type my own...

  1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
  2. Select the "Mail" tab.
  3. Click the "Add" button.
  4. From the Add menu, click "Mail."
  5. In the text box labelled Display Name, type your name and click "Next."
  6. In the Email Address box, type your Yahoo! Mail address (be sure to include "@yahoo.com") and click "Next."
  7. Under "My incoming mail server is a…" select "POP3."
  8. Type "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk" in the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) Server box.
  9. Type "smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk" in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box.
  10. Click "Next."
  11. In the Account Name box, type your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com").
  12. In the Password box, type your Yahoo! Mail password.
  13. If you want Outlook Express to remember your password, check the "Remember password" box.

Important: The Yahoo! Mail SMTP server now requires authentication. To turn this setting on:

  3. Double-click the account labelled "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk."
  4. Select the "Servers" tab.
  5. Check the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication."
  6. Click "OK."
To control deletion of messages from the Yahoo! Mail server:
  1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
  2. Select the "Mail" tab.
  3. Double-click the account labelled "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk."
  4. Select the "Advanced" tab.
  5. If you'd like to keep a copy of your email messages on the Yahoo! Mail server, check the box next to "Leave a copy of messages on the server." If you want to delete your messages from the Yahoo! Mail server after viewing them in Outlook Express, don't check the box.
If you're unable to send email, try using port 587 when sending via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. Here's how to make this change:
  1. From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts."
  2. Select your Yahoo! POP account and click the "Properties" button.
  3. Click the "Advanced" tab.
  4. Next to "Outgoing server (SMTP"), change port 25 to 587.
  5. Click "Apply." Then click "OK" and "Close."

You can add additional (POP) accounts in Outlook 2003. Or if you still prefer OE (from help.yahoo.com):

Here's how to "POP" mail from Yahoo! Mail Plus into your Outlook Express:
  1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."

When i send e-mail, it is returned to me stating authentication is required to send mail as geoandjude@windstream.net


When it asks you to enter a username and password, this is authentication. If it has never asked you that, you may have to remove and re-add your email account.

Depending on what program you're using, you might have to manually add your password to your account under Outgoing Messages. If you recently changed your password on your email address, you will have to do this.

Usually these settings can be found in "Accounts", "Account Settings", or something similar.

Cannot create new account with new user e-mail address.


Can you tell us more about what email program on what operating system..? Or do you mean webmail?

If it's Outlook Express or something similar, you start Outlook, clcik Tools, select Accounts, then click the Add (mail) button. Then fill in the required details.. If you are not sure of the details like POP3 etc, you need to tell us what ISP you connect to.. Or look at another account that might already be setup.. To do that, go Tools, accounts, select properties, not Add. That will give you the details of an existing working account. (if there is one) Post here if you need further help. Rgds,
