I forgot my wep code and i need a way to get it back.

If you forgot the wep key to your internet your best solution would be to reset your router and restore all of your settings to their default value. There should be a rest hole on the back of the router. simply hold down the reset button and then log back into the router using the default ip address (try either 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) and the default username and password. Once you do that you will have to go and set all of your values again such as your network name and your new wep password.

The instruction below will help you if you have lost or forgot your WEP Code.

Instructions

1. 1 Connect your computer to one of the ports at the back of your router with a DSL cable.
   
2. 2 Open a web browser and type "http://192.168.1.1/" in the address bar. This will bring up your administration page for your router.
   
3. 3 Log in by leaving the username blank and use "Admin" for the password. These are the username and password you use if you haven't already set something up previously.
   
4. 4 Click on the "Wireless" tab at the top of the screen, and then on the "Wireless Security" tab.
   
5. 5 Look for the WEP key listed. There might be a few of them, usually three. Use the first one listed. It will be a combination of numbers and letters.

If you forgot your user and password of router then press RESET button of router for 10 seconds it is in back side of router. Then all settings defaults. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then configure wan settings and lan settings enable wireless if you want to use wifi . If you forgott WEP password in wireless security note down the WEP code it is your password to connect wifi.Then save settings and restart router. Let me know if you need further assistance. You can sometimes retrieve it from the router settings, but barring that, there really is no easy way to get it.

Note that I said easy. If your router is indeed using WEP, you can sniff the packets coming off it with sniffers and once you have enough packets, then you *might* be able to decode the WEP key code. This usually doesn't work out very well though.

as i know, if you have done the hard reset linksys will reset to default setting in this case your 26 digit WEP code no longer effect. you should login to admin to set your setting. may be you can read the manual again or see support/WAG200G

The wep key is set by the system admin when the router is installed, contact the systen admin to get the wep key.

If you forgot it you have to reset it but logging into the router's setup through a browser by typing its IP address, then going to Wireless Network Security and changing the WEP key.

the network administrator (whoever configure your router) should have the wep key you're looking for, if you're that person and forgot your wepkey you need to reset your router so you can go back into the router configuration page and reset a new key (and hopefully you'll remember it next time).

Unfortunately, no one could not provide you any WEP key. WEP is a key that you set to your router so that no one could connect to your wireless network. As an owner of the network, you should know what your network key was.

If you forgot your WEP key, you need to reset the router to factory default, configure it and set a new WEP key.
