When I turn on the tv the backlight comes on for about 2 seconds then goes off I have audio and everything else works.I checked the voltage out put and they read what they are supposed too.So I unplugged the slave back light inverter and left the master plugged in and turned it on and the backlights blink with just the master plugged in.I dont think the lights are burned out because it blinks its only a year old tv.

If they are testing as having no shorts it's probably likely they are fine. Is one of the backlights having issues? Just will not light up or what is the issue exactly?

Thanks
Tim

Have you looked into the warranty on this tv? It could be the mainboard sending irregular instructions to the backlight boards... I have seen this happen before and it's nearly impossible to test without replacing the mainboard. If it's just a year old though I would hate to have you need to replace parts... Have you made sure it's not under warranty? If you think it may
still be under warranty please contact the manufacturer to file an
RMA. If you happened to purchase the TV with a major credit card (not
a debit card) there is a good chance it may still be under the free
extended warranty most credit cards place on electronics. Please
contact your credit card company to inquire if they do this, and they
will be able to file the claim and get you a refund for the TV.

I have a 47" Philips LCD TV Oct 2008 Model # 47PFL3603D/F7 When I turn it on, it works fine for about an hour or so. Then the screen goes black, not a fade right to black. Sound is still on.

The backlight inverter is built into the power supply of this unit. When it fades to black screen, do you see any backlight at all?
If you do see some light, you have a 'blank screen' problem and the backlight is not the cause. Since you can still hear sound and can control the tv otherwise, the problem is likely in the TCON board.
If there is no light coming out, perform a flashlight test (search YouTube for details on this). If you pass the flashlight test, then try replacing the power supply board.

LED tv backlight issue

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Cause of no backlight on led td

Hi Jason,
Generally there are two reasons for no backlight in LED TVs. Either it is the inverter which produces necessary power to drive the backlight stops working or some of the LEDs in the backlight array fail. In some TVs even one failed LED will cause no backlight.

DP37647. Why does it have sound but no picture?

HI,
Check that do you able to see any light (back light of lcd) in the screen. If there is light then there is problem with the T con board of the tv. And if there is no light the there is problem with the Backlight inverter. Added the picture of both T con board and inverter board.

Half of my 47" LCD Phillips screen fades from normal to dark. Any thoughts?

If it\'s a backlight issue one section will be dim and will fade darker or lighter to the other section. It is not a hard on/off line. So if it does fade to dark on one side I would suspect either a faulty backlight bulb (non-replaceable) or a failing backlight inverter (can be replaced.)

Measure the input voltage to back light inverter board, from the main power regulator board. If it is found OK, replace back light inverter board.

Hi kellbro1,
You're problem is not in the settings but in fact there's a three major parts involved for fault. First is your back light, second is your inverter board, third is your power supply. I've suspect that you're inverter board or its power supply caused this problem. If you have necessary tools and test instrument, know safety precaution in basic troubleshooting you may isolate the trouble. You have to test the inverter board by loading a two car bulb in series with it. Constant glow of light means you have a good inverter board and the backlight(lamp) need to be replaced, irregular glow of light means that you have a faulty inverter board.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Insignia NS-32LCD Backlight or Inverter bad???

If you've done the flash light test, it could be the inverter board became defective but it could also be that the power supply does not provide the +24VDC to the back light inverter board.
If you could do the +24VDC test using a voltmeter then we can say for sure that the back light inverter board is defective.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
