Mitsubishi just got some bad capacitors and they end up running hot which cause them to bulge. If you are planning on doing the repair yourself I would suggest getting the service manual at the following link, as they will email it to you and they will also provide free tech support with an expert on that chassis and he will help you with the repair as special capacitors have to be installed and while your inside the set you should change any of the caps that are prone to failure. they know which ones they are and they can make the repair an easy one for you. Heres the link.

Good day!!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

Tv turns on and off all by itself, all day long. picture is still perfect when it stays on long enough.

Good day..

That problem is usually cause of bad capacitors on the power supply section..

As you stated your TV works fine and after a minute the red light comes on...

That symptoms is cause of bad capacitors..Normally bad capacitors can check visually if the capacitors look like leak/bulged on the top that is the indication of bad one but not all bad capacitors are bulged some are not so in that case you have to used a special meter called capacitance meter..

This is the sample picture of bulged capacitors:

Tv with no picture. i just bought a new bulb but still flashing lamp and no picture.I can hear it click on but thats all

Hello,

since you didn't get any picture, does the TV bring out sound? If the TV does not bring out sound, then it means the TV is having a power problem.

The clicking sound most of the time indicates a bulged capacitor on the power supply board of the TV. I think problem is with the power supply board and not the bulb.

But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress from www.shopjimmy.com.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

Regards.

Changed my bulb on my toshiba dlp 62hm84 andd it's still not working, no picture but have sound

Most likely you have a bad capacitor on the power supply board.
I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV. Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV(warranty was expired ofcourse) and found four bulged capacitors. Many electronic companies were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 yearsinstead of 10-20. The capacitors failprematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in allsorts of devices. Bad capacitors can cause the problem you are having.
Here are some options . 1. 1.Have it fixed by a professional 2. 2.Dig into your TV, find PSB, Check for faultycaps. If you find some(bulged orleaking) bad caps replace the entire board 3. 3.Remove and then replace individual faultycaps. This takes some solderingskill. Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourselfit will save you hundreds.
Hope this helps
