The belt goes around the tub and is driven by the motor which is also the blower motor. The motor is located in the bottom at the rear of the dryer. To access the belt, you first have to remove the top. To do this, remove the two phillips screws under the filter screen door. Remove the filter. The top is spring loaded to the rear and hooks in the front. To release, pull the top toward the front and lift up. You can do one side, then the other. When both sides are released, lift it up like the hood on a car. The belt is around the drum. It looks like a thin rubber band, approximately 1/8 inch thick and 1/2 inch wide.

Dryer will not turn

There is a belt like a fan belt that goes around the outer tub and onto a pulley that turns the tub, it may have slipped off, you should be able to take the top off of the dryer to check it.

Dryer won't stay running

Sounds as if you have a belt or tub roller problem. Either can be fixed fairly easy but you will have to remove the tub. This is normally done by removing the top, then the front of the dryer. It would help a lot if you had someone to help you remove the tub.

Dryer tub won't turn

hear the motor running, just not spinnig drum? if so you problably eiteh threw the belt off pully it broke all together. theres 2 screws holding the front panel on apprx 10 in. up and 2in. in, slightly pointed upwards. rmeove them and the front panl comes off, i believ the top might just tip back at that pint in which case youll see the belt wrapped around the drum. ro where it should be wrapped around anyway. new belt num Y312959.if needed, youll need to reach beltto motor pulley from behind unit through a small acsess hole. be carefull not rip bag bael is in because it shows placemnet of tension pulley and correct direction to wrap belt in.anything past that, im thinkin 18 yrs has been a good run, go for new

Knocking sounds

Ususally knocking is a sign that the rubber belt which spins the dryer tub is old and has hardened. If the knocking sound gets quieter after you have run the dryer for 30 minutes or so, then the belt is the problem. As the dryer turns, it heats up the rubber belt and makes the belt more pliable. This quiets the knock. I have seen dryers work fine for years, knocking the whole time. Have the belt replaced if the sound bothers you.
