Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I am trying to identify the correct name of a part on the dell latitude d630. It is the extended section that is an extension of the keyboard. It is connected on to the computer. It seems to be a hand rest or arm rest. No outward function but it is covering some unexposed internals. What is it and where can I find a picture identifying the basic external parts of my computer?

I have a Dell Latitude D630. When the laptop is switched on it emits a high pitched scream and will not boot. I disabled microphone in BIOS and machine boots fine. Re-enabled microphone and same probl

It sounds like a driver problem, normally the microphone is off on-boot-up. It should only be opened by a program wanting to use it.

Have you tried turning it off in the operating system, rather than the BIOS?

Download the correct drive here.

Dell latitude d630 some keys not working

Try plugging in a USB keyboard. If it works, backup your data to an external drive, then try looking for (and downloading/installing) any keyboard driver for your product from the Dell Support Site (you will need to enter your Service Tag - usually on the outside of the computer). http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/ProductSelector
Then, see if all the keys work. If not, you may need to get it replaced (which may exceed the cost of a new computer).

How do I replace the keyboard on a Dell Latitude D360? I have the new keyboard, just not sure what steps I need to take to install the new one.

I believe you refer to Dell Latitude D630 not D360 as I did not find the latter among the models.
As for the Dell Latitude D630, please refer to the following section of this model's service manual:

I have a problem with my latitude d630! vertical lines when it starts up and when i try to use a external monitor, its the same thing! what can i do to get this resolved?

This is a classic Dell overheating issue on the internal graphics card. You may have noticed the keyboard to be uncomfortably warm before. It is now at the point where the heat has warped some of the connectors from video card to the LCD.
Your best bet is to contact technical support for motherboard replacement from Dell. I really hope you have warranty still.

I changed the battery on my D630 and lost the date & time. I assume the cmos battery is bad. Where is it located on a D630 and what is the battery #?

CMOS Coin-cell is located under the keyboard. You have to remove the hinges cover and keyboard to access the coin -cell

Please study the following two links giving clear instructions about changing the coin-cell battery of Dell D630.

Let me know if any clarification is needed. Hope this helps!!

Speakers installed but not working on laptop

Many times what happens is during Microsoft updates this audio card PC driver gets lost.
You may need to go to Dell's Web site to locate your specific Model's audio card driver and then reload it.
Worth a try!

The keyboard cannot normally be repaired, especially if it is stuck.
