Need help with this problem. Today I turned my TV on and then

My TV turns off after a few seconds, this has happened before and the problem was the circuit board. The repair man said that this was a flaw with thier boards getting so hot that they melt the solder on the boards causing them to short out. This is a reoccuring issue that I keep experiencing and I will never buy another Mitsubishi as a result.

Wow, all these at once. Mine started this yesterday - same thing, turns on for two seconds and then it shuts off. Something must be over heating causing this to happen .

This is really weird. I experienced this same problem over the weekend and just happened to find this message board, all with similar problems around the same period of time. I have a repair person coming out Wednesday to look and give an estimate. Anyone know what it costs to repair?

This is weird. I experienced the same problem over the weekend, just happened to find this message board and all the similar posts from around the same date. Obviously an issue with this unit. Anyone know what the cost of repair is?

Good Day y'all;
First I will tell you what the factory tells us then I will tell you what the problem may be: This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR LEAKY C9A60 470 PF 1000 V PART # 154P400030, PARALLEL TO D9A57 ON THE POWER PCB (NOT SHOWN IN THE SCHEMATIC). 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT. 3. SELF-DIAGNOSIS INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC4B01 PART # 270P261020 (VERTICAL OUTPUT) LOADING 24-VOLT SUPPLY LINE. LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB. This model is also known to get fluid on the boards. The fluids come the picture tubes, this helps projection TV's to keep cooler tubes, all companies use this method, but MIT has the biggest concern of the leakage.
Sorry, but hope this was helpful. These TV's can repaired, shields can be provided. Call an authorized service dealer to this repair.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

This seems to be a problem in the Power Supply I would think. Either that or a fault that is overloading the PSU.
This means a trip to the repair shop.
Make sure ya get a firm "Quote" for tha fix before proceeding.

I have a WS65711 - 3 months ago I replaced the Convergence - Today the TV was on then turned itself off. I have tried to turn on but it just turns off after 30 seconds

Did you do the diagnostic self check:

when green power light goes off on the front of the set press and hold both Menu and Input(Device) buttons for 5 seconds and release both.

Power light will blink two digit error code like: 2 pause, 2 and repeat it at least 5 times.

Let me know what code you find and I will try to help you.

TV turns on, then turns itself off about 2 seconds later.

set has a self diagnostic---after set does shut down press and hold MENU AND DEVICE(INPUT) buttons on front of set for 5 seconds----if 2 blinks, a pause and 2 more blinks: this is short protection error code---The set does use 2 Stk394-250 and each is protected by a pico fuse in the power supply---if either fuse is blown the set will shut down(it detects no voltage or missing voltage;) It is not uncommon for a shorted IC to cause this problem; if you locate the STK's look carefully at the resistors around them---if any are discolored or burnt---you have found your problem.

TV turns on but turns itself off after short amounts of time

This set is equipped with LED diagnostics. Once it shuts down on the front of the set hold down the MENU and INPUT, (sometimes labeled DEVICE) buttons until the LED starts blinking a 2 blink sequence. For example one blink pause two blinks long pause and then repeats is the code for no problem. All of the fault codes begin with two blinks and then one through 4 blinks. I suspect that yours will be a 2 - 4 code because of loss of vertical sweep. Which is bad solder connections on the deflection yokes. A common problem with these units.

Mitsubishi WS 65513 turns itself off

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps
