My Dell 924 printer will not feed paper and it continues to act like it is going to feed the paper and then it makes a clicking noise and on the screen it shows no problems. All it says is Dell A10 924.

Could there be a hardware problem?

Any ideas on what this problem could be?

    Thanks

I shipped my printer home from college, and upon opening it, discovered that several packing peanuts had jammed the printer. After I extracted them (which involved un-hinging the scanning portion of the printer to access some of the packing peanuts), the scanner would not work. When I turn the device on, the scanner makes a clicking sound, and the timing belt that pulls the scanning head across the glass twitches but does not move. After a minute or so, it stops making the sound, but the scanner does not function. I think I may have dislodged or pinched a wire. I can't easily access the terminal points of the wires. Is there anything I can do?

if u are scanning from a document feeder then its a spec on the glass as the paper passes over this spec the scanner reads as though the spec contiues all the way down the page
if it occurs from the flatbed scan i would suggest its dirty fuser or transfer roller

u can try a stop test by scanning a document and asking for 10 prints stop it after 2 prints and open the machine and remove the papers that are halfway through the machine this can help u narrow down exactly where the print defect starts from

  1. Click the Windows Vista (c01319360.gif ) icon, click All Programs , and then click Windows Photo Gallery .
  2. Click File , and then click Import From Camera or Scanner .
  3. Click Import , and then click Scan .

Scanning with Paint To scan a document using Paint in Windows Vista , follow these steps:
  1. Click the Windows Vista (c01319360.gif ) icon, click All Programs , click Accessories , and then click Paint .
  2. Click File , and then click Import From Camera or Scanner .
  3. Make any desired setting changes, and then click Scan .
