Question about Hobart AM14-253 Free-standing Dishwasher

Open Question

We have an AM-14 dishwasher. It now will not work on auto. It would sometimes and then not and now only on manual. We have had a couple people in to look at it. One says the main board was bad, so it was replaced and the problem continues. The board that was removed was put into another washer and it worked ok. We were told then that that a wire from the motor was wrong and thats when we called in another person. That person said the board was bad and they couldn't work on it. We are in Lancaster, Olhio, not to far from Troy, Ohio. What we would really like is a technician who understands Hobart and can work on all aspects of the machine. Columbus is 30 miles to our north. I took the model number and other information. This was on the motor, Model KFA-AM8 SN B159682 Production Dwg# E-294563-----Main Board 8506 with a tag E294563. Inside the control box is a white tag that reads. 30-E0-30CA/////// 4032A159-31/////// Hobart D87713-65-1------84/11

SOURCE: Commercial Hobart dishwasher

I can't imagine a bad relay board would blow a fuse. The relay board would need to make a bad connection to ground to blow a fuse -- I don't see it.

If you could supply me with the ML#, I'll take a look at the wiring diagram and give you an educated answer.

Not that I recall clearly which fuse is for the drain solenoid, but the two sound related. If a drain valve is obstructed by debris, it will heat up the coil and short it out. I don't know the spec'd ohms, but I would suspect at least 50. I'd check it.

Check to see if the auto/manual switch is working properly. You sound competent enough, I won't bother describing how to test a switch!

Unknown control panel symbols bosch dishwasher super silent

Wash Cycle Options

Delay Start (model dependent):

This option allows you to delay the start time of your dishwasher up

to 19 hours.

Sanitize:

The Sanitize feature is available only in the Heavy, Auto, Normal and Half Load cycles. Press the

"Sanitize Option" button to activate the Sanitation features during these cycles. The technical sanitation

measures may also improve the drying results. The sanitize LED or The "Water Pipe" symbol will light when sanitation

requirements are met.

Note: The dishwasher automatically defaults to Auto Wash when turned off and back on. If you used the sanitize option
in your last cycle, the dishwasher will default to Auto Wash with the Sanitize option selected when you turn it on.

To achieve proper drying, always use a liquid rinse aid, even if your detergent contains a rinse aid or

drying additive.

Note: The dishwasher indicates low rinse aid by turning on the Refill Rinse Aid indicator LED (for units without

a display) or The "Spray Looking" symbol (for units with a display).

If this light is on, you need to refill the rinse aid dispenser

I got the idea that the "squiggly arrow" has something to do with the sanitize feature also. If you post your model number "on the inside right hand side of your dishwasher door" I'll go get your manual and post the link here. Hope this helps so far! :)

Pour a gallon of white vinegar in bottom run halfway thru wash cycle turn off let unit sit overnight to properly soak-then run a couple of times to rinse out vinegar(vinegar dissolves calcium which causes unit to not function properly) also check unit inlet for contaminates and clean as neccesary install inline filter if not one there..(the hot water tank will tell if you have a calcium problem(hard water problem)shut off unit undo relief valve on tank hook up hose to bottom then drain check for white chunks),calcium wreaks havoc on all household appliances and shortens there lifespan!!! :)

Have you tried it on a different program? I have nearly always used the AUTO program - however i have used the 50 degree program 3 times now and it completes the (much longer) wash without sticking on one minute. Will try it on auto again to see what happens. I found it useful to turn the end-of-wash buzzer on (to loud) to remind me when (if) it completes the program.
