Question about Vivitar DVR310 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I have bought an 8GB SDHC Video Card for my Vivitar DVR310 Digicam but when i try to switch the camera on to power it and format the Card nothing happens..there is a slight "whine" noise coming from the camera; with a 512MB Card there is no problem...is the 8GB Card too much "capacity" for the camera, or what?

Your camera will accept a maximum SD card capacity of 2GB. It simply isn't capable of handling anything of a larger capacity and in particular is incompatible with the more technically advanced SDHC cards.

Your fix is to either replace your camera with a later model or to stick to using SD cards with a maximum 2GB capacity.

Camera won't read SDHC card, says card error when trying to format

If you look at the spec, it will only take an SD card, not an SDHC card. SD cards max out at 2GB.

Brand new camera keep getting message "card error" can you tell me why i keep getting this message

Two possible reasons: 1. The card needs to be formatted in the camera to work. 2. The card may be to large a capacity for this model camera. For example, if the camera can use up to a 2GB card and you try to use an SDHC 8GB card, you will get "card error" so check your manual.

I cannot take any pictures, beacause the camera tell me the sd card is protected. I have tried, changing the sd card, resetting the camera, resetting the sd card, and adjusting the sd card, and nothing...

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link. The most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Other causes include having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position, or problems the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card).

I just got a Polaroid DVF-720 digital camcorder and I got a SanDisk 8GB SDHC card but it will not format it says format error Manual says it will handle up to 32GB SDHC card

Are you sure the SD card is working properly? Try using a card reader and format it on the PC.
Also, make sure the Lock switch is flipped to the "unlocked" state.

Hi I inserted a new 8GB sd and the camera keeps trying to re-format. GZ-MC 200

There are no 8GB SD cards. A card that size is actually an SDHC card. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but they are slightly different. Many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

Unless your manual specifically says that your camera can use an SDHC card, then it won't be able to. The maximum size of an SD card is 2GB. If you need more space, just carry a couple of cards and swap them, like people used to do when they filled up a film.

I bought a new SanDisk 4GB SDHC Card. When I put it in the camera the camera comes on but will not go past the intro screen "Vivitar-We makeit easy". If I take the Card out it works. Is the 4G card not...

I haven't heard of anyone having this problem, and they're all using 4gb Scandisk cards, so...I would suspect that the card is bad. Try to get it exchanged, but first try an older, card you used before, to make sure the camera is ok as far as detecting a card. Hope this helps.

DVR 518 question regarding sd card compatibility;- will the product accept a SDHC card to 8gb I have difficulty in getting a standard SD card

Hi,

The manual is not very precise but you cannot get normal SD cards that go to up 8gb, the highest is 2gb.

When they say 8gb they must mean SDHC.

Hope this helps.

SDHC card won't work

Your card is an SDHC, your camera supports only SD/MMC cards. I know this because i found thisp ostlooking for a way to make it accept SDHC cards, a software update could easily work in theory but someone would have to write that update. Technology changes fast doesnt it.

Power button

does your camera have a slide switch to choose between filming and playing video? because i have a dvr410 a later model which is very similar and if you hold the power button while moving that sliding switch it should switch on, i would surgest you plug the camera in to its charger or put in a fresh battery while you do this or you will get very frustrated ;~)
