Question about Samsung J700 Cellular Phone

1 Answer

Short battery life on my samsung j700, I have changed the battery twice and now have a 800 mhu, but the standby time is no where near the 250 hours originally maintained. Average standby time is about 60/80 hours. The phone is less than 2 years old with very light usage. regards Wallisch

    Thanks your message,
The phone is hardly being used.Less than one txt or a short call per day, no other usage.
Under this circumstances the ( second) new battery last less than 48 hours.
After the purchase about 18 month ago, the phone worked well, with a standby time close to one week, with the above described very light usage.
It seems, as you suggested, that the main board is faulty.
    Any other ideas ?

The stand by life is at bext 250 with the 800mah battery. but phone settings, programs, etc may spend more energy. Try restoring the phone to factory defaults without any 3rd party programs etc and it might last longer. Also Stand by time 250 hours means that the phone is on stand by mode with display turned off, no screensaver of anykind running, just powered on not being used at all on a desk. If you have the phone check your email or similar every 5 minutes, this will waste much more power. if you turn on the phone and send a text message, this will shorten the stand by time. Anything you do with the phone will shorten the stand by time.

it depends entirely on how the phone is used. Also the mainboard of the phone might be a bit worn out and it may be spending more power than it did when it was new. If the mainboard consumes too much power - above of what its supposed to, then it would be considered faulty.

A higher capacity battery might help also.

I would perform a full reset on the phone, take anythng important you have on it and perform a full EEPROM reset by entering *2767*3855# into the phone, the phone will restart and return to the condition it was when purchased.

If the batterylife continues to be short, its then out of our control - so its a hardware problem. All I can suggest there is to either use a higher capacity battery or get the phone repaired or looked at by a repairer and see what they say about it.

Very short battery life. I have replaced the battery twice and the new batteries last no longer than the original in standby........about two hours before the phone shuts might I down load a...

It sounds like there may be a possible hardware fault with your phone if it is draining that quickly (if it's under warranty, you can return it for a replacement). Though if for some reason your phone thinks that it is actively in use all the time, a software (or firmware) update may possibly fix the problem.

You could try performing a factory reset of your phone's settings by going to your Menu / Select Settings / Select option 9 (Reset Settings) / Reset All settings.

Failing that, contact Samsung Technical Support on 1300 362 603 & ask them to repair/upgrade your Firmware. They can do this over the network without you having to do anything in most cases. Otherwise they can walk you through doing it via a USB connection to your computer.

Warning though..a firmware upgrade will more than likely wipe your phone's memory of messages/address book etc so back these up first. I would also highly recommend using Samsung or a registered professional to do a firmware upgrade as doing it incorrectly can turn your phone into an expensive paper-weight.

Hope this helps.

Short battery life

Battery life on laptops is like the mileage estimates on new car's wishful thinking. You would have to set the power management to shut the screen off after 5 minutes of inactivity, shut the drives off after 6 minutes and send the thing into hibernation after 10 minutes to get better batttery life.

My Dell Inspiron 1520 seems to use a lot of battery power, even when the lid is closed, and nothing is running. Is there any way to save battery power, without going into standby mode, or turning off the...

How long does your battery usually last? If it lasts 2 hours or more, that's normal for a notebook computer. The standby mode and turning off of hard drives is what notebooks are designed to do to give you more battery life. If you have to have it on and available all the time without going into standy mode, you'll need to get used to charging it every couple of hours. If you want to get more battery life, try the following options:
1) have the display turned off when not in use (this setting can be changed where you set up your screensaver)
2) turn off the wireless function (if available) when not in use
3) have the computer go to standby mode after 10 or 15 minutes of inactivity.
4) lower the brightness of your display

All of the above assumes that you're getting a decent charge and can use the notebook unplugged for 2 hours or more. Naturally, over time, notebook batteries wear down and don't hold a charge as well as they once did. If your notebook is a few years old and you're only getting an hour or so on a full battery, then it is probably time to invest in a new battery. If your notebook is new and you are getting this short battery life, contact Dell for a replacement battery as yours may be defective.

One last thing about notebook batteries. They are designed to be charged up and run down. If you leave your computer plugged in to a/c power all the time while you are using your computer, this greatly speeds up the wearing down of the battery. Whenever possible, you should fully charge your battery and then run the battery down to 10% or less before plugging it back in. This ensures that you get the most battery life on a consistent basis.

Hope this help. Please take a moment to rate the solution. Thanks.

Batteries draining problem?

this problem can be caused by many factors. Use of the phone can drain battery life for example if you use the phone for browsing the web or as an mp3 player, even to make or recieve calls the battery life will not be as long as it would if just on standby. also if the battery hasn't been conditioned or is being over charged this can also lead to short battery life.To resolve the problem try conditioning th battery, basically let the charge drain completely out of the phone until the phone actually switches off, then charge the phone for 24 hours. Next time the battery goes ded only charge for the recommended charging time (this info can be found either in your phone user guide or by contacting the customer service department of your network provider).

Nokia 6680 charge problem

with respect to your low Nokia 6680's low battery, what you need to do is to charge it while switched off for atleast 12 hours.  It is possible for the phone to have 200+ standby time afterwards but that is if its not used at all. You should also disable the bluetooth, as well as the backup ligthing if switched on as all these can dramatically reduce the life of the battery.

Short battery life

Try running the battery down completely (0% so it turns off itself), and charging whilst the phone is completely off (I'd suggest leaving it overnight). Repeat this once or twice, then see if your battery life has improved. Also ensure that you havent left anything on that could be eating your battery up i.e. bluetooth, and contact your supplier if the problem persists, as you should be covered.
