I have DSL. For some reason, when connected directly to computer, I get local & internet connection fine but when I connect the G-Router I will only get local internet which I cannot do anything with. Help.

- It is a wireless G Broadband router Model #WRT54G. ISP is bellsouth which is now at&t. I have also tried to reset it and when it asks for the user & passw, well I leave the user blank (as told in the instructions) & typed "admin" for the password. Well it didn't work. It just kept repeating itself.

- Did it and it worked letting me go to setup again but it still left my connection as local making it unable to work on the web. I rechecked the cables and they're the same.

- OK I did what you said and nothing. I have one question: the submask is 255.255.255.0 Is that ok or is it to be changed too?
Its possible that you dont have the linksys router configured correctly. can you tell me what is the model no. or brand of your modem? And who is your internet service provider?
this will help us to give you the right steps on how to resolve this concern.

- Okay, where you say you reset it are referring to the button on the back or runing the setup cd.
You can reset it one more time. Push the reset button on the back of the router for 10 sec. while its power on. You should see the power light flashing while your holding the button in.
Then you try to log back back in to the router using your browser. (type http://192.168.1.1) And again no username and password is "admin" See if its will work.

- Just to remind you resetting it will set the router back to the factory defaults. And can you also include the brand or the model of your modem?

- What is the brand and model no. of your modem. Also what is the operating system of your computers.

- Ok, since you can now access the setup page of the Linksys router, make sure that the Internet Connection Type is set to Automatic Config DHCP, and Change the router IP address or LAN IP address to 192.168.2.1 then save the settings.
the turn off the router and the modem for one minute. Turn on the modem first, wait for the lights to go solid and then turn on the linksys. this should get you online.

- You just leave it to 255.255.255.0. Alright after doing the steps that i gave it stil didnt allow you to get online?
Can you check the status page of the router? What is the IPAddress and the DNS 1 & 2 that you have there?
And can you also tell me how you get online with your computer directly to the modem? Do you need a username and password before getting online or does it just automatically opens your webpages when you open your internet explorer?

hi iv got a sitecom wl-143 wireless router and a phillips snb5600, both of which support wds, i have given both the routers te same ssid and they are on the same channel, they also have the same wpa2 key, one is a dhcp server the other should therefore pick up a ip for all computers connected to it. i have also added the mac addresses to each of the routers for the wds. how ever they will not connect. my computer connected to the second router (sitecom wl-143) sees the router as a gateway but it doesnt connect or give out ip addresses. any ideas?
