We have tried to use our dvd burner in our computer and we can't. We have followed the instructions and the help tab but it still wont drag over to be burned. It doesn't matter what we put in to be burned it wont let us. We have tried to save it in our library and do it that way as well but it wont let us do that either.

Thanks. To be honest we just bought this and we were told it came with the dvd burner in it. When we put in the dvd windows media comes up instantly, that is what we have used to burn our cds and have had no problems with it. We have tried to burn several different movies. We have tried some that were burned for us from someone else just to see if the movies were protected and that wouldn't even burn. It is an acer.

Sometimes, when you get a package deal with all the software it may be incomplete. They sold you a DVD burner but you would still need the proper software. I would check with the store to make sure that they didn't skimp out on all the necessary things. I have seen in the past that they don't always install everything on the system and leave it up to you to install it.

This is common with people who don't know how to use a DVD burner. First of all do you have DVD burning software? If so that is good. If not you need to get some software. Next do you have a DVD burner on your computer? If so you should be burning DVD's If not check your computers documentation. If you are unsure how just tell me the manufacturer and the model number of your computer and I can help.

P.S. If you need I can give you some software that will help with your problem.

My computer no longer reconizes the cd burner model 38631

Have you tried to update or roll back the drivers? On your desktop select start, click control panel, double click system, select the hardware tab, click device manager, click the + sign next to DVD/CD-ROM drives, right click on your cd burner, click properties, select the drivers tab, try both Update driver and roll back driver.

Sonic record now program will not find cd drive

  1. Update your drive's firmware/drivers. Most companies regularly update their firmware and drivers. If you are unsure what model your burner is and its firmware, click here to find out.

  2. Enable DMA. Direct Memory Access enables better efficiency of data. For more info, check how to enable DMA.
  3. Your media. Check the following:
    • The disc is clean and unused.
    • The media is recommended by your burner's manufacturer or try a different brand, preferably a name brand, if you continue to have problems.
    • Make sure that media (-R/+R, -/+RW, dual-layer compatibility) is supported by the burner by checking burner's manual or manufacturer's website. This is especially true for some Blu-Ray burners which do not support CD-R/RW media.

  4. Lower the write speed of your burner.
  5. If your burner is external, make sure it is connected directly to the computer via USB/Firewire and not a hub or other other device like a sound card.
  6. Update to the latest PX Engine. The PX Engine improves compatibility with newer burners on the market.
  7. A reinstall of the burner's drivers may also help.
    • Windows XP: Go to My Computer and choose Properties.
    • Windows Vista: Go to Start --> Control Panel --> System and Maintenance --> Device Manager.
    • Click on the Hardware tab.
    • Select Device Manager
    • Expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives, then select your burner and uninstall it by right -licking on it.
    • Reboot.

Dvd drive wont work

The DVD burners are not all that expensive, I'd just replace it and see if it is still doing the same thing. If it is still doing it then you are not out too much. Besides that you would have the use of 2 burners on 1 pc. It may just be a defective dvd burner too. Go to newegg.com and check out the inventory of dvd burners on their site. About 25 bucks for a top of the line burner with lightscribe capabilities.

A DVD CD burner came installed in my Emachine computer purchased Nov 2007 and runs Vista Just want simple instructions on how to use the burner. Thanks

To burn files onto a disc, all you need to do is drag and drop files onto your drive under My Computer. When you have put all the files there, put the disc you want to burn in there, go to My Computer, double click the drive, then go to File/Burn these files to my disc. If you wish to burn music/video CDs or DVDs I would suggest using more of a full fledged burning suite such as Nero.

Cannot copy files to DVD disks

First of all you should have the recording tab ON. Have you tried burning using Nero instead of dragging and dropping? This may solve the problem.

However, if you prefer to drag and drop, try setting the write speed to a slower setting, even if the dvd burner has faster write capabilities.

1. I do not think it is a hardware issue.

2. You can try replacing the IDE cable, but if you can read the contents of the disk it does not suggest a communication issue between the drive and mobo.

3. I do not think that the burning software is to blame, when you drag and drop you are actually using a windows based burning software that is installed with the operating system.

4. set up your files to burn through nero, let the software do the work.

I had the same issue with my dvd burner, although slightly different error messages, solved it by using nero instead.

Wont burn cds , files , etc

well it could be many reasons why it wont write your burner but first what software you are using for burning. it happens to me before using media player when i try to burn music. the reason was i haven't configure my media player to use my dvd burner for burning because i have dvd burner and a cd burner installed. Now maybe you try to reinstall it using your dvd driver the one which with your dvd burner when you first bought it.
