Question about Barbeques Galore Turbo Elite 4-Burner with Rear Burner 182931 (LP) Grill

1 Answer

Turbo/regulator Good morning, The regulator on my turbo has gone bad. Ive tried to find just the "knob" but have had no luck. Also, Lowes and home Depot dont carry the right part. Ice called BBQ's galore, but they want to sell me the entire hose and connector. Any ideas on where I can get just the regulator? Thanks eric

Yes you can just buy the regulator. Try camping shops or caravan centres.
There will be a choice of Butane or Propane. They are quite different connectors so will be easy to tell apart.

Make sure to crimp the hose securely as "jubilee" type clamps are not advised.

I actually have a model 1502SHLPE. Both burners

Its the pressure regulator. It's just gone bad. They are not expensive. Your local lowes or home depo should have one. Measure the length of the hose from the pressure regulator to the grill manafold.. Thats the only difference you'll find at the store. Make sure when you install the new one that you use some pipe tape rated for gas and check for leaks with soapy water.

Top knob no longer turns

The valve behind knob has probably gone bad and needs replaced(bad bushing from factory maybe). Check to see if your still under manufacturers 1 year warranty. Or order a new one off manf. website or ebay with model #. Good Luck, hope this helps.

Gas shuts off

Try turning on the gas at the tank with the burners turned off. Wait a minute or two for the pressure to equalize and then turn on the burner and try lighting it. It should work. If not check the venturi and see if an insect or spider might have blocked it so the air mix is interrupted. It may be that your regulator needs replacement. If you have a gas grill that works your might try switching them if they have the same size fittings and see if it works then. New regulators can be found at LP gas dealers, hardware stores, and the big boxes like Home Depot, Menards, Lowes and Wall-Mart.

When turning off any gas grill it is best to turn off the tank first, then the burner after the flame is out. This especially applys to the tanks with the overfill protection device.

Good Luck

Char Broil commercial grill won't heat pass 300 degrees

I had a similar problem and thought the propane kept running out....come to find out it was a defective regulator. $21 at the local ACE store as running to LOWES and trying to get a point across to a 17 yr old summer help college kid for a intermittent problem seemed more challenging then it was worth. Would barely light the burners and would not get over 200 degrees. Ripped it apart...blew through all the orfices including the regulator put it all back together and would work for a while then fail again. Good luck!

Flame is too small, does not get hot enough.

This sounds like it probably is a regulator problem - they tend to corrode very quickly in salt environment - i live on the coast too and have the same problem often. First thing to try is to spray a little WD40 or similar into the regulator. often they will have a tiny hole somewhere in the body of the regulator usually on the side away from the gas bottle but there are many different types - spray in this hole in particular. Then give the regulator a bit of gentle violence - often the spring plate inside can stick or the valve itself and this can free it up. No luck with this then get a new regulator - they are not usually expensive - make sure the regulator is the correct type for the gas you are using, they have different pressure settings for propane, butane, and all the assorted mixes. The sticky left Knob is unlikely to affect the gas flow, although there must be some corrosion to make it hard to turn so it is possible that this has gone into the valve/pipe behind the knob - sometimes these valves can be dismantled and cleaned fairly easily, some are sealed units that just have to be replaced - if you want to try and are not sure what to do, try posting back with some photos and i could try and talk you through it, or try getting me on a live chat armed with photos, some WD40 and a selection of basic tools and some steel wire wool (stainless if possible). Hope this helps and we can get you grilling for the summer, please ask again if not :)
