I don't quite understand the question here. I am very familiar with the SSC Service Utility, it's amazing really... but you use IT to reset counters on the Epson devices, there are no counters for the SSC Service Utility...
What are you trying to reset?
Oh so it just sounds like you need the SSC utility then because that's exactly what it does...
You can download and use the utility right here:
http://www.ssclg.com/download/sscserve.e...
With it you can reset / freeze the count on the ink cartridge level.
Thanks
Tim
Oh on a MAC eh? I'm so sorry, they only make it for Windows based PC's... there is no MAC equivalent software. You may want to look into getting an old windows based PC just to use as a printer server (you can find an old windows box for probably $50 used somewhere) just so you can use the SSC utility. The amount you'll save on ink will easily be worth it. Otherwise there is no way.
Thanks
Tim
Oh you are right, there is no support for the 4880, I thought the way you talked you already verified it had support for it. Unfortunately there is no utility that can do as you desire with this 4880. I should have checked that first, but have been confused all along since you asked "how do i reset the ssc service utility counter on epson 4880"
You will either need to get an epson printer that is supported by this utility if you want to trick the ink cartridges... or just get ink cartridges. All these new epsons are too smart to trick :(.
Thanks
Tim
If possible please accept my solution, there is definitely no other solution, and I don't get any credit for helping you all that time unless you do :(
Tim
If possible please go back and accept my solution, I assure you there is no other one and people will just keep wasting your time with possible fixes that will get you nowhere :(.
Oh well it is definitely ultimately your choice. Just was curious

Hello
After downloading the SSC Service Utility program for Epson
printers. The program allows you to reset the protection counter
(essentially beginning again from zero jobs).
Click on the file and select "Unzip" or "Unpack" to open the file. Double click on the "Set Up File" to install the software.
Select the "Start" button from your desktop. Click on "Program Files."
Find "SSC Service Utility" and double click it to open the program.
Click on the configuration tab and select your printer from the list of
available printers. Quit the program. The icon for this program should
show up as a small printer icon in your "Task Bar" on your desktop.
Click on the program icon in your "Task Bar." Click "Protection
Counter" from the list of options. Click "Reset Protection Counter" to
reset the printer. If you continued printing past the printer warnings
requiring maintenance, you may have been locked out. In this case,
instead of selecting "Protection Counter," select "Extra" from the list
of options under the program icon. Select "Soft Reset." This gets rid
of the lock out. Select "Protection Counter" and "Reset Protection
Counter" to reset your printer.

i want to make the printer think all the colours are full so i can continue to print the black only (which is all i need) i dont care if the colour heads dry up-----i keep having to buy colours i dont need or use. i've had to replace them even when they are full------expired issue? reset chips fir the inks dont seem to work any more---thought i could disable the colour directly on the printer (4880)
