Once trashed and emptied they are gone forever. You may think a Mac can reverse this option although only XP operating systems can do this and the same with Vista and Windows 7

Files in the trash are protected. Once the trash is emptied the storage location those files occupy (on the hard drive) are marked as useable. They may be overwritten already. The more you do the higher that likelihood becomes that the date becomes unrecoverable. Piriform offers "Recuva" a free (for home use) tool to recover deleted files on a Windows machine. Get it at the link below and Good Luck!

How to Securely Delete Trash In Mac OSx

As you may or may not realize, when you delete something off your hard drive, it doesn't actually get physically removed from the disk. All references to it are gone, but it stays there until something else is written over it. For private documents this is a bad situation because someone with special software can recover supposedly deleted files. To prevent this, you can use the "Secure Empty Trash" option which is in the Finder menu. This will take longer than the normal trash emptying, because your computer is actually writing nonsense data over the top of your deleted files. To access this, simply open Finder and look on the top left and click Finder. From the dialog box that comes up, choose "Secure EmptyTrash". Now the data will be overwritten and will be unrecoverable. I made a video showing how this is done if you need to see it. Click the link to see the video.

Need to unlock obsolete document to throw it away (iMac).

Put the file into the trash as normal then..Hold down the Option key (Alt key) and select empty trash while holding it down. You won't get any warning but the trash will empty and your file will be gone.

Retrieving a file from emptied trash bin

You need some 3rd party software like Wondershare Data Recovery and a external drive to restore files. I only mention this one, because I recently used it. Do a deep and thorough scan while not selecting a type or location. Then restore.

How can i delete old stuff on my mac laptop?

Click anywhere on the desktop that is literally empty space and next to the apple at the top left corner of the desktop FINDER will appear.
Under the File menu, the first item is New Finder Window. Click on that.
A new Finder Window appears with icons for folders for Documents, Desktop, etc.
Find the "old stuff" you want to delete by highlighting it with your mouse and holding down the "apple" aka Command key next to your spacebar on either side you may select multiple items.
When all your "old stuff" is selected, drag the whole collection to your Trash Bin, which should be either at the right side or the bottom of your Dock, depending on whether it is located on the top bottom or one of the sides of your desktop.
Under FINDER at the top left corner of your desktop you will find the commands Empty Trash and Secure Empty Trash the latter of which commands has no key combination, the former of which can be accessed by a combination of Shift-Command-Backspace
Empty Trash simply removes the items, but Secure Empty Trash removes the items AND reclaims your disk space, so if your intention is to increase your disk space, use the menu item, not the key combination to Secure Empty Trash.
I have been illustrating these steps on OSX 10.4 (Tiger) and I do not believe the process is much different for 10.5 (Leopard) or 10.6 (Snow Leopard) so if you have any difficulties please get back to me.

How do I (on my MAC) format my kingston data traveler 512mb?

when you send items to the trash in finder. it places a trash extension on the files and saves them so to remove the items permanently you must empty the trash you can empty it while the disk is attached but be aware that when you empty the trash it will remove all .trashes including those on the hard disk so make sure to check the trash can for files you may need ahead of time also if this does not correct the problem you can connect the disk and open /applications/utilities/'disk utility.app' select the disk on the left then choose the erase tab at the top of the box I am not really familiar with these jump drives (I don't use them) but I would imagine you can use any format although for the disk to show up on mac and windows computers you must format to a ms-dos(fat) file system

Deleted Raw Folder

Probably you just deleted it into oblivion. On floppy disks in Windows, if you delete something, it's really gone - there's usually no trash can on a floppy disk. Probably it works the same on a CF card, which is also regarded as a kind of removable disk by Windows. Or was the file already on your hard disk?
