My Dell 962 printer works fine as a printer and copier, but my system does not recognize it as a scanner (it used to). I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer several times with no success in solving the problem. Any suggestions?
I contacted Dell Techical Support and they connecting to my system where they ran a cleanup utility (I think it deleted all the printer drivers) and then we downloaded the latest drivers and reinstalled the printer. At first it didn't appear to work correctly, but upon rebooting the system the printer was working correctly - scanner included. At the moment, all is well.

If the printer is off, turn it on. If the printer is busy, pause or stop the
job. Open the printer by lifting the scanner bed.
The print cartridge carrier automatically moves to the center of the
cartridge bay. Note that the Photo All-in-One Printer 962 can hold the scanner
bed in the upright position without a prop. Press down on the tabs to open the cartridge carriers.Remove the old ink cartridges.
hmmm..interesting..sometimes, in the translation from one fax machine to another, the grey scale densities don't match up. So, your printer almost certainly has a higher resolution than a standard fax machine. Only way to do this is to test and attempt to balance it from one machine to another. Maybe you'll get lucky, and they will be compatible.
1. What operating system? 2. What did you have to re-install? The whole operating system or just this printer? 3. Have you downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the Dell site? 4. Are you able to copy something just using the Copy buttons on the unit itself? 5. Are you able to print to the printer successfully after re-installing? 6. What program are you using to scan?
