Bad news. Probably your hard drive has crapped out.
If you plan to replace the drive get a Seagate brand. They cost a little more than the Western Digital, but they last alot longer.

Restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen. Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option: Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)

It is possible for the Windows operating system on your eMachines computer to have a critical failure. If the operating system on your eMachines computer is failing, you can use your recovery discs to restore your computer. Recovery discs come with your purchase of an eMachine, and contain your operating system and all your basic drivers. You can recover your eMachines W series in about an hour.

Turn off your computer and press "F8" to enter the BIOS menu. Tab over to the "Boot Sequence" or "Boot Order" menu. Move your optical drive to the top of the list. Press "F11" to exit and save changes. Insert your recovery disc into your optical drive, then restart your computer. Press any key to boot from disc. Select the "Full Recovery" option from your recovery disc menu. Allow the recovery procedure to complete. Hope this helps.

My hp pavilion dv6000 is stuck on configuration 3/3 0% and keeps shutting on n off

Turn off the computer, then turn it on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the SAFE MODE Option. Select the Safe Mode option and see if your machine completes the boot cycle. If it does, do a normal shut down and restart. When it restarts, you want to let it try to boot back up as it normally does. It still might try to do the configuration stuff again, so be patient and let it do it. If it gets stuck and starts shutting off and on as before, turn it off again and boot back into safe mode again.

Once in safe mode click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore and select a date that is prior to the date when you first started having problems.

Don't worry,. System Restore does not delete any of your data, documents, music, pictures or videos. On the other hand, System Recovery DELETES EVERYTHING and sets your system back to how it was when you purchased it.

How do i get e machines out of safe mode so i can reboot the computer?

If you are in safe mode, you should be able to shut down or restart the computer the same way you would in standard mode. Click the start button and select shut down or restart, and let it boot up normally. If you do not have the start button, you can try holding down control-alt-delete and selecting shut down from the menu. If all else fails you can hold down the power button on the computer for about ten seconds and the computer should power off, then you can turn it back on.

Wont load passed windows xp screen

Try holding down the "F-8" key when the emachines logo appears, see if you get a prompt for "safe mode". If you can get the system up and running in safe mode, shut it back down from the start menu. That should rewrite the boot sector and may clear the problem.

Hi from london, have new acer aspire 1 zg5 new keeps shutting down after boot can u hlp pls?

Try booting the system to Safe mode.

To boot to safe mode:
Restart the computer. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, keep tapping on F8 key on your keyboard. When the Windows Options menu appears select the "Safe mode" then press Enter.

Once you managed to boot to Safe mode, change the computer startup and recovery settings by right-clicking "My Computer" then select Properties. Select Advanced tab. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings. Uncheck the box for "Automatically restart" under System Failure.

Reboot again normally, see if it will reboot again by itself. If you managed to make the system boot normally, proceed to Events Viewer to find out what is the caused.

If the system failed to boot normally after doing the above, you might want to boot the system to "Last known good configuration"

Try putting the computer into safe mode by shutting down the computer. Turn the computer back on. At beginning of the boot process press and hold the f8 button and select safe mode from the menu.

When the safe mode is done booting up, try moving the mouse around. If it works, restart the the computer under normal Windows startup procedures.

Safe mode business

safe mode automatically comes up when you didn't shut down properly. Just select boot as normal or last known good configuration then you are good to go.

uninstall any new hardware or software you have recently installed to cause the problem in the first place. If you haven't installed anything then windows should just start normally.

good luck
