Question about Fisher and Paykel GWL11 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Model #gwl11-us 2003. It had appeared that our load was out of balance and was beeping. we rebalance load and started machine again. It ran for a few minutes and then stopped? No lights or anything. At this time, the clothes still had suds on the clothes. We tried pressing the power button to go thru the rinse cycle again and nothing happened. No power? We unplug and replugged, nothing? Can you help us? Thank you - Jon

Thank you. I had already tested the outlet with a blow dryer and it works fine. Since your e-mail, I did turn off the power to the outlet and then back on. I pushed the power buttom and nothing happened. Where do we go from here? How does the $$ work? Am I getting charge everytime I e-mail?

    Thanks again - Jon

Hi Jon, just read your posting. Now have you checked the power outlet with a small appliance such as a toaster or hair dryer? Now if you have power at the outlet, turn the outlet on then off to the machine and see if the machine powers up.Please reply and tell me if it powers up and then I can guide you step by step in isolating the fault on your machine.Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Jon just read your last posting, and no, I do not think you are getting charged to email Fixya. Now there are 2 reasons why your machine will not power up when you turn the outlet on and supply power to the machine and they are, 1st Your drain pump is open circuit, and 2nd your control module is faulty. The control module goes faulty for 2 reasons ,1st It goes faulty internally and 2nd a component in your machine such as a water valve ,lid switch ,pump ,etc is faulty which in turn caused the control module to become faulty. The course of action is to eliminate the pump as the fault with an electrical tester and if it is not faulty then the problem will be the control module.I can help you test the pump and the components. Please reply on how you would like to proceed and I will help you as much as I can.Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Jon just read your last posting.Unfortunately I just answer the questions on this web site so I really do not know about the payment but when I used the service about a year ago all I paid was $15 Australian. So I think $12 is all you pay regardless of how many emails I send to you or you sending emails to me.Now did you get my last posting. Please reply on what you decide and we will rectify this problem.Looking forward to your reply.

The washing machine will start turn a few times add some water but then stops and the light flashes

Sounds like unbalanced now - try to rebalance the adjustable knobs under the washer - we have to rebalance every few months because our floor isn't the straightest. We always know when its time because the washer won't work right.

Haier HLP21E Top Load washer keeps beeping & blinking after water intake. It will rinse out the water when 'rinse' pressed. However it does not 'spin' but instead all three orange lights start blinking &...

No spin with alarm means the unit is out of balance.
The troubleshooting manual reads:
"The safety switch acts. The
spinning cannot work (The
WASH, RINSE and SPIN
indicator flash and alarm goes
off every 10 seconds). If
trouble cannot be solved after
alarming, it will alarm again
every few minutes."

To solve this the load must be balanced:

Make sure to level the machine on a solid floor. Also you may have to redistribute the clothing in the tub for even weight distribution.

The digital timer on the machine will say 1 minute to go, but the machine will run on the spin cycle for 6 to 8 minutes before it finishes. Is there a part I can replace to correct this problem?

Your washer displays an estimate of time remaining in the current wash cycle. That estimate is based on the load finishing without any delays. Prior to going into a high speed spin, your washer "tests" the load balance by either rocking or slowing rotating.

If it senses and off balance condition, it will attempt to "rebalance" the load by itself and then retest, rebalance, etc. until it is satisfied that the load is as balanced as possible. Then it begins to spin. When your washer takes longer than is predicted in the display, it is because of this.

MY LG washer is out of balance. I have been told there is a demo mode that can rebalance the washer drum. Do you know how to do this?

The demo mode does not do what you want it to do. Demo mode allows the retailer to demonstrate the wash tumbling without hooking the machine up to water and drain, and show the spin, and allows a servicer to test see those things, plus testing of the display board, water fill, and even the heater if your model has one. Demo mode will NOT "rebalance" the washer drum. Some models have a "Spinsense" setting, and newer models have a "Tru balance" ring, which does a very good job. (no, it is not a retro-fit type drum) Your only solution is to make sure your machine is on a solid floor, level, and all legs making firm contact with the floor. Load selection and load size have a limited effect on un-balanced situations, but The biggest factor here is having a SOLID FLOOR.

Kenmore elite shows error code "ob". It spins for a minute but stops then repeats process. Then code pops up. How can I fix it?

Out of Balance
Rebalance the load. What is in the load of wash? Something thick and heavy? Maybe too few items. It probably can't be balanced. Open the door after pausing and reaarange the load a bit and try again.

Wont spin out

are the clothes out of balance? sometimes it can take quite a few trys to rebalance the load. if that is the case, it probably could use new drum springs.
