I had the same problem with my Coolscan IV. The problem ended up being the scanner, which had several broken pieces in it when it arrived. Since the Nikon repair facility in Las Angles wanted $200 plus parts to look at it and repair it, I subsequently purchased a Coolscan V and went to the Nikon site and downloaded their latest drivers (ns403en_vista.exe) - which worked (works) fine and does a beautiful job. If you follow this route, make sure that you download the correct version, i.e., the Vista version. I have been able to make the scanner work well using both the XP and the Vista Nikon drivers, since I have both an older XP desktop and a new Vista Laptop. Good Luck.

Hi, I can't get my scanner conected, it was conected, turned it off ,now can't get it to work. ion PIC2pc. Thanks Nan

Hello.

Be certain that you followed the step-by-step instructions (From ION Support):

1. Turn on the computer.

2. Insert the installation CD into the CDROM

drive and the installation menu will appear. *

3. When you see the installation menu, click Install Driver.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

5. When the driver installation is complete, click BlazePhoto to install the software.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

7. If your computer does not have DirectX 9.0 or greater or Adobe Reader, click those items to install them. (If your

computer is using Windows XP Service Pack 2 or higher, Windows Vista, or Windows XP Professional, this is not

necessary.)

8. Click Exit to close the window.

Note: The first time you connect PICS 2 PC to your computer, wait a few seconds until you see a dialog box

that says "Found New Hardware" (this means the computer recognizes the PICS 2 PC). After you see this,

PICS 2 PC is ready to use.

If you followed the above instruction and still have a problem, reinstall (first, Remove from Add/Remove Programs) the software and be certain that the USB cable is snug.

If your computer is not recognizing the ION PIC2, be certain that your computer has a USB 2.0 port. Check your Device Manager to verify what USB port.

If still a problem, what error message(s) are you getting ? What operating system software (Vista, Windows 7, etc.) ?

Hope this helps.

Lost setup disk to Canoscan LiDE 100 scanner, want to install

Hi,

You can download the installation driver and software from manufacturer's support website by clicking this link

On the page which opens, select the operating system of your computer (Windows Xp/ Vista..) from the drop-down menu. Then download the required drivers and software.

The list of available drivers will load only after selecting the operating system of the computer.

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa.

No driver for Canoscan FB 630U Vista 64 bit

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Canon supports this scanner under Vista. Check if the Windows generic TWAIN scanner driver will work. The Canon software won't work. If the generic driver can be installed, then you should be able to acquire scans in Paint (File > Import from Scanner or Camera), Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan) (some versions of Vista) or Windows Photo Gallery (IIRC it works like Paint).

I hope this helps.

(Canon wants you to upgrade. I have a different scanner that isn't officially supported past XP and the generic driver works fine. Unfortunately, you can't just use the XP driver in the compatibility mode due to the lack of signed drivers that are required in the 64-bit OS)

A friend gave me a Canon CanoScan 5000F flat bed scanner -- I don't have the CD with the software to install and set up. How can I proceed?

you can get the software from the canon site this should be a direct link to that scanner http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=235&modelid=8053 - however there is not a windows 7 version of the driver - it has all the other windows version link to drivers
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=235&modelid=8053#DownloadDetailAct select the OS from the dropdown
if you have windows 7 - its possible the windows vista version may work - they do on some HP products - so you may be lucky

Where can I download a driver that will work in Vista for my Minolta Dimage Scan Elite 5400?

Unfortunately support for your model has been discontinued. The most recent driver is here

http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/americas/scanners/dimage-scanners/dimage-scanelite_5400/software_drivers/drivers/ver115_win.html

but only supports officially up to Windows XP.

If the driver does not work in XP SP3 and Vista, this may be due to full system access being required by the driver and/or its ancillary userspace software.

You can either try running it as Administrator, configure for XP or 2000 compatibility, or if nothing else works, you may be forced to install VMware or Microsoft VirtualPC and virtualize an ad hoc installation of Windows XP SP2 with updates inhibited, in order to be able to run the scanner. In enterprise environments whole PCs are often set aside to run outdated operative systems in a controlled environment; you may do the same thing with only one PC and VMware.

My operating system (Vista) is not supported by installation of plustek scanner OpticPro U12B

Unfortunately you have a compatibility issue. Some devices simply won't work with the way Vista is structured. The only options you have here are to replace the scanner with one that is Vista compatible, or change your operating system to windows XP, which supports your scanner.
