SOURCE: Freezer is working/refrigerator works sometimes

No No No. The most likely reason that the evaporator fan is not running is that it probably uses the heater circuit for its neutral feed. I.E. In order for the fan to have 230v/115v it needs a zero voltage brought back through the defrost heater and defrost stat. I know this for a fact because I just did one today and have fallen for this scenario (ie bad fan motor) before. You need to check from ground(earth) to each side of the fan motor (which is easily accessible) and then across the fan motor windings. The chances are that you have zero voltage across the motor. The fan will also not run until the temperature of the evaporator coil has been brought below 0 'C (32'F) and this can take up to 20 mins (again speaking from experience). This is to prevent snow being produced after defrost. I would advise getting the engineer to come back if you have paid him money and do a proper job. Shorts in Amanas can happen but have not come across one yet. Hope this helps.

good then go ahead and ohm out the sensor and the relays to see if the resistance is close to the normat. 70 degrees is roughly 1000 ohms. relay you are lookling for continuity or open. then you can also ohm the fan motor too. let me know what you find;.that will determin whts bad and whats good

check the condenser temperature when the compressor is running by hand it must be warm or hot if it is not then that means no refrigerant left in the system. This can be a possible cause.

SOURCE: Amana model SXD25QA3W. Not cooling. Compressor runs.

Low on refrigerant which is R 12. EPA has stopped the manufacture of it and it is priced out of sight.
You have a leak and will need it fixed. Compressor is about $300-400 list. You don't want to go there.
Good luck but likely 15-17 years old....... New one ???

That model is twin cooling. Are you having any error codes on the display? Most models will shut off the fan when you open the door. If there are no error codes the thermistor could be out of range telling the fan not to run. You could try putting the refrigerator into diagnostic mode. You can look that up or reply I could tell you how to do it.

Why does my refrigerator circulate on bottom but not on top

Is this is a bottom mount fridge? Hey if your fridge is a fairly a new one. Say less than 8 years old and a fancy one then this is how it works.

a) Fan in freezer circulates air. Mainly to the freezer compartment.

b) Then for the fridge compartment there is a Vent door operated by a vent motor.

Either this vent motor not working and opening, or it is frozen or the thermister that controls the temperature on Fridge compartment is not asking for cooling and thus not sending power to the vent motor to open.

Top stopped cooling, but freezer on bottom works fine. had some problem maintaining temp for last couple of weeks. do you think it is a fan or something more serious?

Bottom freezer - Refrigerator top not cooling- All vents from freezer open , no food in the way. Is there a fan ?

Yes there is and it is located in the base panel of the fridge. Look for a set of slotted vents in the inside of the fridge and the fan is located behind those slots. This fan uses the freezer temp to control the fridge temp.

Good luck hope this helped you some

Freezer is ice cold, but bottom isn't cold at all.

your fan motor that transfers cooling from the freezer to the fridge has gone out. What this fan does is maintain the temp of the fridge that you have set by pulling air from the freezer to meet the temp. To find this fan you need to look at the temp adjustment switch on the inside of your fridge. This will be located in a plastic tray assembly with vent slots cut into it. Right behind those vent slots lays the motor. Easy to remove take model and serial # to an appliance parts house for replacement.
Good luck hoped I helped you some

Ge profile buttom freezer cold refrigerator hot

First, I think it’s important to know that the Ref side has no cooling coils, it’s basically a box and the cold air in the freezer is blown over by a fan through a channel into the Ref side. This channel has a door which regulates how much cold air goes through. You probably have two control knobs in the Ref side, one controls the temp with numbers 1-9, 9 being the coldest. This temp control tells the compressor how long to run. The other control is for that little door and it may have letters A-E, E being the coldest. If you set it on E (coldest) then this will close that little door and keep most the cold air in the freezer.

Now, why is that cold air not getting over to the Ref side?
1. The little door is not open.
check your control setting. You should be able to feel air coming through the channel on the Ref side.

2. The fan in the freezer is not working.
You can hear this fan running when you open the freezer.

3. The coils on the freezer side are clogged with ice which won't let the fan circulate the air over to the Ref side.
This is a failure of the defrost system.

If there is no frost on the freezer side it may be low on coolant.

You can manually defrost for a temp fix. Turn it off, take everything out of the freezer, use a hair dryer to warm the back wall. Do this for as long as you can before anything starts to thaw. Put everything back in, turn it on and this should last a couple of days.

Fridge on top of freezer is not chilling

if you have a french door (also known as bottom mount, freezer on bottom) and your fridge sections(cold air blows from freezer to refrig) is not cooling try this

1. ensure you hear the fan running, its it not, thats it(most likely fan motor
IF fan is running check these things
1. ensure refrig section light shuts off by holding down the switch
2. ensure door shuts
3. clean conderser coils (usually accessed from front through base grille)
4. check for icing in vents, freezer section contain them at top or back, and for a bottom mount the refrig sections vents are under your BIG drawer. if iced try a hair dryer from distance. or empty food into another fridge unplug open doors, and plug back in two days later this should defrost all ice build up
