Sadly, yes, it just sounds like the switch got stuck. You should be able to yank that knob off and try to manually unlatch it with something thin and long (like a pencil) - just, do me a favor, and make sure whatever you use isn't conductive, there shouldn't be any exposed electrically, but just be safe about it.

If that doesn't work, call their tech support center at 1-800-523-9466 - they will most likely replace it for you.

New dimmer switch not working

Hi -

The Lutron D600P is a preset single pole dimmer. Wiring is pretty straight forward as show in this diagram. Recheck wiring and if OK, continue below.

If power is present on both wires (black / red wires), power is being passed through the switch to the lamp and the light should be on. If not, try replacing the lamp.

Minimum recommended connected load is 40 watts. This switch is ONLY for use with filament type lamps - such as traditional tungsten, halogen, etc. It is NOT to control speed of Fan Motors, nor dimming of CFL (compact fluorescent lamps) energy saving types or other ballast operated lamps such as High (or Low) Pressure Sodium, Metal Halide, Fluorescent, etc. as this would create a high heat condition and could cause a fire.

If you're still having trouble, you can contact Lutron Technical Support Center 1.800.523.9466 24 hrs / 7 days www.lutron.com

I hope this helps & good luck!

No, you can only use one dimmer, the other switch has to be a regular three-way switch.

Problem with 1000 w sliding dimmer switch; lights stay dim regardless of slider position but eventually brighten

I think you need a provide a little more information in order for there to be a possible solution. I'm particular confused by your use of the term "eventually" - these are analog dimmers, there are no "smarts" involved with this products, so I don't get how it would magically turn itself on to a higher brightness. Regardless, you will be able to get a much quicker answer by just calling Lutron directly. Their tech support number is 1-800-523-9466, they're available 24/7, and it won't cost you anything. They can help you diagnose whether its something related to installation or whether the product has simply hit the end of its life, and they can probably assist you with gettting a replacement as well.

These in-wall devices stop working and need to be replaced from time to time.
There are no repair parts.
Generally dimmers don't last as long as ordinary light switch, because they are electronic instead of mechanical.

Lutron makes the widest selection of dimmers.

Use link above to identify dimmer.
For example Skylark dimmer.

Then google search for a replacement.
For example: single pole 600 watt lutron skylark dimmer
Or: 3-way 600 watt skylark dimmer
Lutron also makes 1800 watt dimmers for larger loads.

I AM REPLACING A LUTRON DIMMER SWITCH AND HAVE i THINK MADE ALL THE RIGHT CI=CONNECTIONS - COULD A FAULTY GROUNDING BE THE PROBLEM?

As a general rule, grounding will not affect operation of dimmer.
Type of dimmer, type of switch being replaced, type of load, and how you connect wires will affect dimmer.

Here is Lutron dimmer switch page
http://www.lutron.com/Products/StandAloneControls/Dimmers-Switches/Pages/DimmersSwitches.aspx

What is the load? Are you wiring dimmer to a ballast? Or fan? Or incandescent lights? Or florescent lights?
Are you replacing a 2-way or 3-way switch?
What color are your dimmer wires?
How many wires were connected to switch?
Can you re-install the switch, and know where each wire went?
Did you replace a light with a fan, and then want the dimmer to slow the fan? Not every dimmer will work with a fan, or florescent lights.
Dimmers cannot dim LED lights.

If I know what type switch you are replacing, and the type of load you want to control, and the specific dimmer you have, I can answer the question.

Lutron Dimmer Probelm

You may want to consider getting an "electronic" dimmer vs. a manual knob or slider. Consider using a Maestro (MA-600-XX where XX is the color). The Maestro fits into a decora opening so you may also want to get a new wallplate (Lutron makes these in a screwless version: CW-1-XX where XX is the color).
Hope this helps.
